Looking back, Gloria smiled at Marcus. "What a good nephew! Thank you. You’ve helped Sabrina so much ever since she met you, so I really must thank you."
Marcus started crying. "Aunt Gloria, you’re willing to accept me as your nephew?"
Gloria was still smiling. "Stupid child, we’re related by blood. What's there not to accept? Even if it wasn't for the fact that we were related by blood, you have such a kind heart, so why would I pretend or hide anything from you?”
Marcus seemed as if he had seen some hope for himself. "Aunt Gloria, if you’re even willing to accept m e, then..."
"No!" Gloria's answer was blunt.
Marcus was speechless.
It was Marcus’s grandfather that asked him to cry out t o his aunt just now. Marcus could not bear to look at his grandfather’s pleading gaze.
Only he could help his grandfather.
Unexpectedly, his aunt was cold and smart, and immediately guessed his intentions.
Gloria looked at the old man who was filled with tears. Her tone was calm and decisive as she said, "Old Master Shaw, you did the right thing during your
youth."
Old Master Shaw was speechless.
"Your wife was incredibly lucky to meet you.
"You weren't like my ex-husband, Lincoln. He was scum, throwing away his wife and daughter for someone new. He even used me and my daughter to lie to you. In terms of taking care of family, he does not compare to you at all."
"Doesn't it look a lot more like you were just bullying the weak?
"You had immense power, and the world in your palm, but to a little three-year-old child, you... How would you want me to describe you?
"You might not know this, but when you were trying every means possible to find me, your niece, Jennie, the woman I treated as my best friend once, met me. The expression she used to look at me then was like she was looking at the beggar.
"Do you think I can really believe that you were really looking for me?
"Old man, you were a good person. The way you treated my daughter's grandmother, and my son-in-law was always fair and with dignity. You even loved the niece of your wife, who was not related to you by blood at all.
"It was just my mother and I."
