Damon heard a couple of people talking about it. Apparently someone leaked online that a special quest will unlock for priest and paladin class players and holy healers if they managed to kill him or even spot him and report the location to the church.
Huge bounties were on his head in both the mercenary guild and the adventurer’s guild. Of course, normal player guilds also had extensive rewards for cornering him.
The entire city had become a death trap. The players had even started doing unofficial checkpoints all over the city and at the city gate entrance. Most of these players had the golden lotus guild tabard and were clearly from Aurora’s golden lotus guild.
Damon’s face twitched at this new development. It looked like they wanted to trap him, corner him, and catch him like a mouse in a trap. It’s only been three days since the game launched. Wasn’t this a bit too soon to go all in?
"Damon, what are we going to do now?" Mark and Kate looked troubled. "Those three guys have been eyeing us since we arrived. Do you think they found out?"
Damon smiled. "They need three more years of experience before they can compete with me." He had half a mind to take on the whole gang but now with Mark and Kate, the things he needed to get done had drastically increased. He couldn’t afford to simply keep messing with these idiots.
"Let’s go this way." He led the group to the old hag’s shop. A couple of people seemed interested in following them but Damon lost them soon enough by taking multiple weird turns in the city streets. These idiots did not have enough manpower yet so it was easy enough ditch them.
The group entered the shop and Ellora was as usual swatting flies with no one else around. "I am busy, come again tomorrow." She absent-mindedly replied. However, the next second, her eyes flew wide.
"My lord... My lady..." She immediately appeared in front of them with a speed that defied her hunched frame, bowing so low her nose nearly brushed the dusty floorboards. "Forgive me! I did not recognize your exalted presence."
Kate blinked. Mark stared dumbfounded. She was talking to the both of them and not Damon?
Even Damon was confused. Blood Reign laughed in his head explaining him the reason. She had covered up all of his aura but his initiates still emitted the aura of his blessing. "She knows they have a primordial blessing?"
"Not possible." Blood Reign said. "But she can tell that they have a powerful God’s blessing."
While everyone was still confused by this, something even more unexpected happened. Ellora’s figure started morphing. She was no longer the old hag with a hunchback. Instead, standing in her place was a devilishly wicked beauty.
Her skin darkened to an obsidian sheen, smooth and flawless, as crimson tattoos slithered across her arms and neck. Her back straightened, her robes fell away, replaced by a shimmering gown woven of shadow and embers.
Horns coiled back from her temples, delicate and sharp like onyx spirals, and her eyes, once dull and faded, now gleamed a deep, bottomless violet.
Kate took a reflexive step back. "What the hell..."
Mark instinctively reached for his starter weapon. But Damon stopped them both. "She is just showing you both respect."
"Miss Ellora, we need to get to the vampire base as quickly as possible without alerting the other cattle. Do you have any minor teleportation tokens that can directly get us to the base."
Damon could use Blink or Shadow Step and easily get the same results but he did not want to alert the holy dogs even a little bit. Not when he was rebuilding the base. That was a big chain quest he had no intentions of failing in.
Ellora once again glanced at him before conveniently ignoring him. She flashed another smile at Mark and Kate as some tokens appeared on her hand. "Please use them, my Lord and my Lady. Our humble base eagerly awaits your presence."
"What about me?" Damon smiled bitterly. With a sharp look, Ellora tossed one at him as well, once again ignoring him after that.
Kate laughed softly and nudged him with her elbow. "Jealous that someone else is getting all the attention?"
"Not at all." Damon shrugged.
"Huh? You are definitely lying. I know she is your type."
His type? Damon was about to say something but he quickly shut his mouth. He had fallen into this trap many times. He was not going to do the same mistake again. It was better to simply remain silent for these types of questions and comments.
