Ye Fan looked at Ye Jinlan descending the stairs, then at Tian Yu who was following closely behind her.
Neither of them had thought of their second sister.
Originally planning to leave, Ye Fan turned back and knocked on Ye Shaohua’s door, "Second sister, come out to go to the hotel, we’re not having dinner at home today."
Ye Shaohua was tidying up her room. Hearing Ye Fan’s voice, she gave a "Hmm" in acknowledgment, "I’ll be out in a moment."
She put on the glasses that were set aside.
Ye Shaohua quickly followed Ye Fan out.
Ye Father was a truck driver with a van whose rear compartment was so spacious it could easily fit a dozen people.
The hotel was located in the City Center, which suggested that Ye Family’s parents had really splurged; even a simple meal here was expensive.
Ye Family’s parents had even booked a Private Room.
When everyone took their seats, their gazes settled on Tian Yu.
It wasn’t surprising that they were looking at him.
Tian Yu himself was a radiant figure, and his conversation and demeanor revealed his extraordinary nature.
The Ye Family’s relatives had a keen eye and could naturally tell that Tian Yu was different from their own working-class crowd.
"Who’s this handsome young man from? Why haven’t I seen him before?" An aunt peered at Tian Yu.
Tian Yu looked up. He had been chatting with Ye Fan and Ye Jinlan and hadn’t expected these people to suddenly pay attention to him.
Ye Mother immediately explained on his behalf with a smile, "Aunt, this is the Tian Family’s son I mentioned before, now the same age as Shaohua. He goes to School No. 1; he also came top in the entrance exam and is now Shaohua’s boyfriend."
Hearing that he was Tian Yu, the people around the table smiled at him even more amicably.
But then they didn’t expect Ye Mother to add that last sentence.
The row of relatives looked at each other in dismay.
"Shaohua’s boyfriend?"
"He seems quite a good match."
The uncle’s wife and others watched Ye Shaohua and Tian Yu, commenting against their better judgment.
The two of them didn’t seem to match at all.
The aunt chuckled awkwardly, silently thankful she hadn’t spoken too soon.
Just leaving the Ye household, upon seeing Ye Jinlan and Tian Yu coming downstairs together, she originally thought Tian Yu was Ye Jinlan’s boyfriend.
But it wasn’t surprising she thought so. Ye Jinlan was quite good-looking, never lacking admirers from middle school to high school — who in the Community didn’t know about the two Ye children?
When it came to the Ye Family’s eldest daughter, these discerning relatives were full of nothing but praise.
Tian Yu was also conspicuously handsome, and with his conversation, he didn’t seem like a petty bourgeois like them. Every move he made was just right.
The two of them together made an attractive and talented pair.
Most importantly, both of them had similarly outstanding academic achievements.
In contrast, Ye Shaohua had never done particularly well in school, and although most of her relatives were not much to speak of, the presence of her siblings in her family made her appear even worse.
Hearing this, he wasn’t surprised, "She’s never been as smart as you, nor interested in studying. It’s not just about her not listening, even if she did, she wouldn’t understand what you’re talking about."
After that, the two continued to discuss mathematical research papers.
Ye Jinlan was a Math major in university, and she excelled in mathematics, of course, "excelling" relative to others her age.
And Tian Yu had participated in math competitions in high school.
Though not selected for the National Team, he had won a prestigious First-class provincial award.
With shared interests and equal intelligence, they had a very engaging conversation.
They talked about mathematics, then international affairs, and eventually moved on to the current financial climate.
Tian Yu very much enjoyed talking to Ye Jinlan; no matter what he said, she could follow along.
As Ye Jinlan spoke, she would occasionally address a couple of questions to Ye Shaohua.
But Ye Shaohua either didn’t talk or didn’t respond at all.
Tian Yu had already stopped talking to Ye Shaohua much; he didn’t know what he could talk about with her.
Was he supposed to bring up BSD conjecture, and then have Ye Shaohua ask him what "BSD" is?
Ye Shaohua sat beside them, absorbing the content of their conversation without any internal stir, even feeling the urge to point out that Ye Jinlan had just made a mistake in a mathematical formula.
"So you participated in CMO in high school?" Ye Jinlan expressed her admiration.
For the first time, Ye Shaohua looked up, surprised, looking at Tian Yu, "CMO?"
Tian Yu saw that Ye Shaohua had no chance of understanding these things and glanced at her impatiently, "If you don’t know what CMO is, just go and ’Google’ it yourself!"
