Because her failing kidneys had caused her to bloat, she couldn't squeeze into her usual size at all.
Her illness had made her emotionally unstable lately. She immediately flew into a rage, shoving the sales associate to the ground.
Since Mrs. Walker and Yolanda were not only VIP clients but also the mayor’s wife and daughter, the staff dared not offend them.
The associate, who had taken a hard fall, had to quickly get up and bow repeatedly, apologizing profusely to Yolanda.
“Are you blind? You brought me such a small size! Are you trying to make a fool out of me?” Yolanda shrieked, raising her hand to slap the woman.
Fortunately, Mrs. Walker rushed over and grabbed her arm just in time.
“Yolanda, what’s wrong?” Mrs. Walker asked.
“Look at the sizes she brought! I can’t fit into a single one of them!” Yolanda fumed.
Mrs. Walker glanced at the sales associate, who looked back with tears welling in her eyes.
Yolanda was wearing loose clothing and a baggy jacket, so the associate hadn’t noticed she’d gained weight and had simply grabbed her usual size.
“It was my oversight. I forgot to mention it to the staff,” Mrs. Walker said. Ever conscious of her image as a dignified socialite in public, she would never throw a tantrum like her daughter and even tried to smooth things over for the associate.
“Shall we have her bring you the next size up to try?” Mrs. Walker suggested.
“Forget it. I don’t want to buy anything,” Yolanda snapped, then turned and ran out of the store.
“Yolanda! Yolanda!” Mrs. Walker called out, but could only sigh and chase after her.
After the mother and daughter had left, other sales associates hurried over to help the one Yolanda had pushed to a quiet place to rest.
