“Yes, yes, of course. Don't you worry, I'll figure something out right away,” Eden replied quickly.
He wasn't just trying to placate his grandmother; his eyes were dark with malice as he schemed for a way to get rid of that baby in Yvonne's womb.
But before Eden could come up with a concrete plan, the hospital room door was pushed open. Two men in uniform walked in and headed straight for him.
“Who are you? Who let you in here?” Eden snapped, his tone hostile upon seeing the police officers.
“You're Eden Thompson, correct? We're from the Municipal Police Department. We need you to come with us to assist with an investigation,” one of the officers stated.
“Your case has nothing to do with me! Get out of here now! My grandmother is in poor health. If you frighten her, can you take responsibility for what happens?”
Eden roared at them.
The two officers had come to the hospital to make an arrest and were trying to be mindful of the other patients, so they had initially been polite with Eden. But since he was being uncooperative, they dropped the courtesy.
One officer produced an arrest warrant. “Mr. Thompson, you're under arrest. Please come with us.”
The sight of the warrant made Eden realize the gravity of the situation. He finally stood up from the bedside, his eyes cold. “On what grounds? I've already posted bail.”
“You were released on bail, not acquitted,” the officer replied curtly, grabbing Eden's arm and snapping a handcuff on his wrist.
Yolanda, who had been sitting nearby, was stunned to see Eden being arrested. Unsure of what was happening, she didn't dare to intervene.
In contrast, Mrs. Thompson Sr. became hysterical when she saw her grandson being arrested. She scrambled out of bed and started clawing at the officers, making a scene.
