She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 78

The glee in Sybil’s tone wasn’t subtle. Loyce heard it clearly, but she remained calm, seated, and only glanced at Sylvie onstage. “It is a coincidence,” she said lightly. “But mine isn’t fake.”

Sybil blinked, laughter exploding in her head. Out loud, she played embarrassed. “Loyce… Ms. Langley is a jewelry heiress. She grew up around this stuff. There’s no way she’d wear a fake. Please, don’t make this worse. Just take it off.”

Yuna gave a smug little snort. “Sybil, stop trying. Loyce’s skin is thicker than concrete. She won’t back down until Ms. Langley comes over and humiliates her in person.”

Sylvie might have been onstage, but there weren’t that many guests. She’d noticed the commotion already, and the set around Loyce’s neck that looked exactly like hers.

So once the opening speech ended, Sylvie stepped down and headed straight for their table, lifting her skirt slightly as she walked.

At the same time, in the second-floor private box, a man lounged on a sofa, unhurriedly sipping coffee. Beside him, Robert sighed.

“Sir, the miracle doctor is about to get torn apart,” Robert said regretfully. “She bought a fake, and it matches Ms. Langley’s. Those women downstairs are wolves. They’ll strip her to the bone. Should we step in?”

Lucian’s voice was cool. “Who the wolves are… isn’t so clear yet.”

Robert stared. “You think her jewelry is the real one?”

“I don’t know.” Lucian’s mouth curved. “But she promised me a show. She won’t disappoint.”
