She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 455

The roar echoed in the wind and snow, full of bone-deep accusation and fury.

Loyce stood there quietly, her eyes clear and sharp, looking straight into Zeke's almost fire-breathing eyes.

"Mr. Shapiro," her voice was terrifyingly calm, "are you really mourning Lucian as a person?"

Zeke scoffed, "What do you mean?!"

"I think what you're mourning is the Shapiro family losing an exceptionally capable heir who could intimidate all sides. You're mourning that a century-old military family might show signs of decline, worrying that your massive business empire might shake and collapse. You're mourning that the 'perfect project' you poured thirty years of blood, sweat, and endless resources into has been destroyed. Your life's work and expectations, gone down the drain."

Every word Loyce said was like a cold scalpel, precisely dissecting the layers of wrapping to reveal the truest, cruelest core inside.

"You're angry not because you lost a grandson connected by blood, but because you lost the 'most perfect tool' to maintain the Shapiro family's glory and power."

Zeke growled, "Shut up!"

Loyce's tone didn't waver, continuing on her own. "You never cared if Lucian was tired, if he was in pain, if he even wanted this burden. You only cared if he could perfectly carry the 'Shapiro' gold-plated sign, if he could continue your legacy."

She paused, looking at Zeke's suddenly contracted pupils and slightly trembling lips, delivering the final, most soul-piercing question:

"So, you standing here accusing me right now... are you heartbroken over your 'grandson's' tragedy, or are you furious over your 'heir' going missing and the instability your 'business empire' might face?"

As her words fell, the command tent descended into dead silence.

Only the tireless howling of the wind and snow outside and Zeke's heavy, suppressed breathing could be heard.

The old man's face turned red, then white. All his anger seemed instantly frozen, then shattered by those words.

He opened his mouth, his throat making a ragged sound, but he couldn't utter a single word of rebuttal.

Loyce didn't give him the chance to argue. "I don't know that he lied to you. I only know he wanted to break free from the chains put on him, just to do what he wanted to do."
