She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 264

The internet had been in an uproar about whether the veterans were even qualified to work in medicine. Naval Headquarters responded by releasing their field-medic certifications and an expert panel’s assessment: they were fully competent to work at a private hospital.

Once the veterans’ service records were made public, the reaction was explosive—waves of admiration flooding every platform.

One comment rose to the top again and again: “If my life’s in someone’s hands, I want it to be theirs. Those trash outlets should be punished.”

As for the rumored Blossom Hospital embezzlement case and Metropia Evening News’s “reporting”, the official statement dismantled it piece by piece.

And when people learned the hospital’s largest backer was the Lonsdale family, the disgust toward Metropia Evening News turned into open contempt.

Metropia Evening News was hit with an unprecedented investigation. Everyone involved was blacklisted from the industry.

Oscar and the other ringleaders were permanently barred from working in healthcare. Xavier was removed and investigated for abusing his authority. The entire department underwent a purge.

At home, quietly following the news, Quiana let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. *Good thing I ran the moment I sensed something was off,* she thought. *Otherwise I’d be finished.*

“The statements are out,” she muttered. “So I should be safe now… right?”

Then bitterness crept in. “Loyce just got lucky. She even wriggled out of this.”

She opened another job portal, planning to send out a few more applications—only to find her email account had been banned. Nothing would send.

“What the—?”

Before she could process it, someone knocked on her bedroom door. Byron Sampson’s voice came through, unusually stern. “Quiana. Open up. Someone’s here for you.”

She didn’t catch the warning in his tone. “Coming!”

She swung the door open and froze. Behind Byron stood two naval officers in uniform, faces carved from stone.

“Quiana?” The lead officer showed his credentials. “We’re with Naval Headquarters’ investigative unit. You’re suspected of inciting public hostility, malicious defamation, and forging medical credentials, among other charges. You’ll need to come with us.”

Quiana’s face went dead white. She stumbled backward. “What does that have to do with me? You—you’ve got the wrong person! I didn’t do anything!”

The officer pulled out a stack of documents without blinking. “The footage of you in a coffee shop instigating Oscar and others. Call records between you and a Metropia Evening News reporter. And the forged physician license.”
