She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 225

Loyce simply raised an eyebrow. “Oh. Suit yourself.”

Her casual demeanor made Jasmine’s chest tighten, leaving her breathless with rage.

A faint smile touched Lucian’s lips. His girl was certainly bold enough, and he loved it.

Lucian grabbed the military jacket he had just taken off and walked over to Loyce. “If there’s nothing else, we’ll be leaving.”

Watching them walk away, Gavin felt a growing sense of unease. He called out, “Admiral Shapiro, are you really going to trust Loyce—a woman with a terrible reputation and more beauty than brains—and throw away your career and your family’s future? You’ll drag the entire Shapiro family down with you.”

Lucian paused and turned back, his gaze as sharp as a blade. “And what’s the alternative? Trust you? Didn’t you already give me your answer?”

Gavin’s expression flickered, though he naturally wouldn’t admit he had tampered with anything. He put on a look of deep regret. “It’s a shame the military is about to lose a talent like you. But no matter how much I’m questioned, as long as the country needs me, my medical equipment will always be available to the navy.”

Lucian scoffed, not bothering to grace him with another word, and turned to leave.

Loyce had come on her motorcycle, so Lucian didn't drive her. He simply told her, “You can start your research anytime. I’ve already had one of the emergency systems secretly moved to the Shapiro estate. You can take it apart however you like. If you need any help, I’ll bring people over.”

“No need. It’s better if I work alone,” Loyce replied.

“And about Cyrilla’s tutoring,” Lucian added, “I’ll find another tutor for her.”

Loyce nodded. “Alright.”

The news that Lucian had gambled his future and the Shapiro family name for a young woman at the military base spread like wildfire.

Zeke’s phone was ringing off the hook with calls from old comrades, all asking what love potion his grandson had been drinking to act so irrationally.

For once, Zeke didn’t tell his old friends the whole truth. He had witnessed Loyce’s medical skills firsthand. Where other top doctors had failed, she alone had pulled his grandson back from the brink of death. He trusted that his grandson wasn’t a reckless fool, and he trusted Loyce.
