She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 220

Saphira quickly replied. [Of course. Study hard and listen to your tutor.]

When the scheduled tutoring session was nearly over, Saphira went to the kitchen and prepared two plates of pasta. She brought them up to the bedroom, saying warmly, "Cyrilla, Loyce, you must be exhausted. I made some pasta for you to have a little something to eat."

As she spoke, she saw Loyce slowly stirring, as if waking from a nap.

Saphira froze, embarrassed. "Oh... were you resting?"

Cyrilla hid a smile and pretended to defend Loyce. "She was just so tired from teaching me that she dozed off for a moment. It's okay, Mom. Just leave the food, Loyce and I will eat soon."

Saphira put the pasta down, a confused look on her face, but she didn't dare question it further.

Cyrilla packed up her books and smiled sweetly at Loyce. "My mom often brings me snacks when I'm studying late. You should have some too. Eat up and then you can head home to rest. You have to do this all again tomorrow."

Loyce raised an eyebrow. "Is your homework done? Don't you want me to check it?"

Cyrilla's eyes were clear and innocent. "It's mostly done. Besides, the teacher gave us the answer key to check our own work. I've already gone through it, and I got almost everything right."

"I see," Loyce said, not bothering to call her out. She had noticed Cyrilla copying the answers while she was pretending to be asleep.

For a girl from a small town, she certainly wasn't focusing her efforts on catching up to the academic standards in Metropia. Instead, she was wasting her limited intelligence on schemes against her. A pity!

Loyce never forced anyone to do anything they didn't want to. She ate the pasta Saphira had made.

She had to admit, the woman was an excellent cook. You could tell the pasta was handmade from fresh flour, with a perfect texture that was better than any restaurant. It was a dish filled with a mother's love and hope. Saphira clearly wanted her daughter to succeed, to get into a good university and make a life for herself in Metropia.

Loyce finished her entire plate, but Cyrilla next to her only took two bites before setting down her fork. Lately, she had developed a taste for the steaks and German sausages prepared by the Shapiro family's chef. She was sick to death of plain pasta.

After the snack, Loyce got up to leave, and Cyrilla saw her to the bedroom door.

Before she left, Loyce turned, her gaze calm. "You should ask Lucian to find you a different tutor."

Cyrilla froze. "Why?"
