She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 197

The dispatcher took it seriously. A nearby patrol unit was sent immediately.

After the call, Loyce looked at the boy and asked softly, “When this happened… was your mom there?”

Keaton shook his head. “Mom works late a lot. It’s usually just me and Dad. Mom stopped giving me candy because she said it would rot my teeth. But Dad said if I played his game, he’d give me candy. I didn’t get a lollipop… just sticky chocolate sauce.”

He pointed awkwardly at himself. “On… where I pee.”

A hot wave of rage moved through Loyce so sharp she almost couldn’t breathe. She kept her voice steady. “That isn’t a game. Your dad is hurting you. When the police get there, you have to tell them everything, okay?”

And then—worst possible timing—the front door opened. Keaton’s father stormed in. Somehow he’d found out his account had been used to throw expensive gifts in a livestream, and he came back furious.

“Keaton! What did you do with my account? What idiot stream did you dump my money into?!”

A bearded man yanked the boy off the chair. He didn’t even notice the private call was still active. Clicking through the gift history, he ended up back in Loyce’s public livestream. He jumped into the live queue, and the people ahead of him immediately dropped out, letting him through. He assumed his high-spender badge had scared them off.

He turned on his mic and barked, “Hey! Where’s the host? My kid spent my money. Refund it. Now.”
