She Was the Treasure All Along novel Chapter 173

This year's Steinway competition was the most dramatic in its history. In the end, Helena won the championship, a complete turnaround that would change her life forever. When she finished accepting her award and looked for Loyce to share her joy, she found that Loyce had already slipped away from the stage and vanished.

Lucian’s Bentley had been parked by the roadside the entire time. Robert slid back into the driver’s seat. “The evidence has been submitted to the director. By now, Sybil’s scheme of hiring a ghostwriter has been exposed. We’ve also had our people release the proof of video tampering online and have the best lawyers on standby, depending on how Loyce wants to proceed.”

Lucian toyed with a small gift box, his gaze fixed on the laptop in his lap, which was still live-streaming the final moments of the competition. He flicked open the box’s lid and suddenly asked, “Do you think she’ll like something like this?”

“I hear this lucky sun necklace is the most popular style this year,” Robert answered honestly. “Loyce is just a girl in her early twenties. I’m sure she’ll like it.”

Lucian snapped the lid shut and turned to look out at the venue. He knew Zeke must have said something to Loyce. Given his current situation, even if Loyce kept quiet, he could guess what it was about. The last thing he wanted was for her to distance herself because of it.

A short while later, Loyce emerged, having changed into a more comfortable outfit. She immediately spotted the familiar Bentley, paused for a beat, then walked straight to it. She opened the back door and slid inside in one smooth, fluid motion. Her eyes immediately fell on his laptop. “Were you watching the competition?”

Lucian closed it. “You played well,” he said, his voice gentle. Then he placed a small velvet box on the center console between them.

Loyce glanced at it. “What’s this?”

“I passed by a friend’s shop, and he insisted I take it. I have no use for it, so see if you like it.”

Loyce’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly as she opened the box. Inside lay a delicately crafted sun necklace. The workmanship was exquisite, and it looked quite valuable, like a collector's item.
