With a solemn tone, Destroyer declared, “If it comes to bloodshed, so be it. Anyone who dares to conspire against Chief Cross should know that even if they don't come looking for us, we'll hunt them down and make them answer for their actions!”
Nathan replied, “Now is not the time to settle old scores with them. Facing off against the Gods is a daunting prospect, and the Curia boasts formidable experts. Engaging them in combat within this forest could lead to significant casualties in our North Army. This is far from an ideal scenario.”
Upon hearing that, Destroyer inquired, “So, what should we do?”
Nathan replied, “Inform Fang and Heptakill, tell them I'm fine, and there's no need to worry. Also, tell them to instruct the squads to withdraw from Mount Eoncrest. Get them to assemble and wait outside the forest. I'll meet with them there.”
“I'm afraid they won't listen.” Destroyer voiced his concern.
Nathan responded in a deep voice, “Just tell them that's my order.”
Destroyer quickly stood at attention and saluted. “Yes, Sir!”
Meanwhile, within Mount Eoncrest, across the vast expanse of the thirty thousand northern territories, numerous squads were organized. These squads diligently navigated through the primeval forests, combing the area in search of any signs of Nathan.
Among those squads, Fang and Heptakill, who shared the same level of anxiety as Destroyer, were also actively participating in the search.
Thankfully, they received the reassuring news of Nathan's safety and were promptly informed of his orders to gather the squads and withdraw from the primeval forest.
The most important rule for soldiers was to obey orders from their higher-ups.
Without hesitation, Fang and Heptakill carried out the orders right away.
The North Army, one after another, received the message to retreat from the forest.
Despite being unaware of the specific circumstances, they dutifully obeyed the orders and began exiting the forest, making their way toward the designated gathering point as instructed.
Upon assembling all the soldiers, Fang was taken aback to find that over three thousand members of the thirty-thousand North Army were inexplicably missing.
Communication with those soldiers had been severed, leaving Fang uncertain whether they had become lost, fallen victim to the Gods or the Curia, or met some other unfortunate fate within the forest.
Meanwhile, the Quartet War Pillars and their God Warriors suddenly noticed a dwindling presence of human soldiers within the forest.
They tightened their grip on their weapons, looking at Nathan with serious expressions.
Unable to contain his curiosity, Destroyer softly asked, “Chief Cross, what's going on?”
Nathan replied slowly, “I can feel an intense aura coming from a powerful being. The person might be an incredibly formidable entity.”
Destroyer's soldiers were filled with terror, as Nathan described their opponent as incredibly powerful.
Just as Nathan and his group remained on high alert, a burly figure appeared ahead with a swish, and a powerful aura struck them head-on.
The expression on Destroyer's and his subordinates' faces could not help but turn grim.
The creature turned out to be a vampire—a ferocious four-winged vampire in combat form.
Nathan was even more astonished because the figure before him, covered in scars and bearing an obvious severe head injury, was none other than Shadowbeard, a member of the four-winged vampire. How did Shadowbeard get injured? What is he doing here? What on earth is his sudden appearance all about?
