A knock sounded at the bedroom door. Foster entered and, seeing the man standing by the window, handed him a file. "These are the families involved in the coordinated attack."
Sebastian set his wine glass on the table and took the documents. As he scanned the names, his eyes turned freezing.
"The wicked truly are hard to kill. I suppose I should give Cary credit; that old fox actually managed to rally these small-time players to move against me. I should have uprooted them entirely from the start. It seems I was far too lenient, and it gave them the opening they needed."
"What’s our next move?" Foster asked quietly. "Individually, these families are no match for the Austin family, but their combined strength is significant. With the support of the Cary estate, they've become quite brazen. The diamond mine over there has already been sabotaged by explosives. Our team is handling it, but there's no telling what other reckless stunts they might pull. If this continues, it will be a heavy blow to Austine Financial Group."
Sebastian picked up his wine glass, swirling the crimson liquid with elegant, deliberate motions. His deep eyes glinted with a predatory chill. "Old man Cary... I didn't think he’d manage to crawl back up after two years. I underestimated him. I shouldn't have been so soft-hearted back then; it only left a cancer to grow. Since he wants to play this way, I’ll make sure he never stands up again. I doubt those other cowards will have the courage to cross us once the Cary estate collapses. When that happens, I want ten times the compensation for every loss they've caused us today."
He took a sip of the wine, his jaw tightening. Just thinking about the old man's interference made him grit his teeth.
"Understood," Foster said respectfully. "Shall I keep your appointment with Cary tomorrow?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't I see him?" the man replied coldly. "He went through all this trouble just to make a show of force in front of me. Refusing him would be such a disappointment. Besides, I want to see what his ultimate goal is—and who gave him the audacity to challenge the Austin family."
"Yes, sir. I’ll make the arrangements." Foster bowed and withdrew from the room.
