Lin Zhiyi put down the phone and reached out to pull Qiu Yang over.
"Go say goodbye to your mom, hurry."
Qiu Yang was stunned for a moment, then said, "Thank you."
Captain Xing put all the physical evidence into an evidence bag.
Then he walked towards the door, but didn’t open it; he first looked outside through the peephole.
A minute later, Qiu Yang came out of the bedroom crying.
Then locked the bedroom door.
She wiped her tears: "Let’s go."
Lin Zhiyi nodded and conveniently grabbed a cushion from the sofa.
Upon hearing Captain Xing say to go out, she quickly rushed out and wedged the cushion in one of the elevator doors.
Then she pulled Qiu Yang down the emergency stairs.
"There are a lot of them, this can scatter some people going upstairs."
Qiu Yang worriedly said, "What if they all come up the emergency stairs?"
Lin Zhiyi blinked: "That would be even better."
After going down three flights of stairs, Captain Xing raised his hand to block their way.
"Their people are coming up."
Lin Zhiyi stared at her phone, where messages from Gong Chen were coming in real-time.
"They’re nearing the seventh floor, get out."
Without hesitation, Captain Xing led them out of the emergency staircase.
Then they pressed to go down.
The elevator that was wedged by the cushion also came down.
Lin Zhiyi said, "Looks like they’ve arrived."
Captain Xing reassured Qiu Yang: "Don’t worry. My people entered this building in plain clothes before us; they’ll protect your mother and help us buy time. This building is crowded, so it’s best if everything is handled quietly."
Qiu Yang nodded and entered the elevator with them.
As they descended, she curiously looked at Lin Zhiyi.
"Captain Xing seems to trust Miss Lin and Third Young Master a lot."
"They’ve coordinated like this many times before, and besides, Third Young Master won’t let anything happen to her if something happens to me."
Captain Xing was quite at ease.
But as soon as the elevator door opened, he couldn’t smile anymore.
He didn’t expect so many people watching Qiu Yang.
Some took the elevator, some the stairs, and others stayed to guard.
Captain Xing stood in front of the two, and as soon as he made a move, he struck two charging men.
Then he heard a scream from behind a few people.
Chen Jin stood there calmly, holding two knives.
Captain Xing raised an eyebrow: "Impressive, let’s spar another day."
Chen Jin replied, "I can handle a few moves in a fight, but I can’t compare to your intense systematic training."
"Let’s go, it’s not safe to stay here for long."
Captain Xing knew Chen Jin was being too modest.
He and Gong Chen clearly had impressive skills.
Chen Jin led the way in front: "Get in the car, the way back might not be so smooth."
Captain Xing asked, "What’s going on?"
While driving, Chen Jin explained, "If they can’t catch Qiu Yang, they won’t let you return to the police station. Third Young Master suspects they’ve already exposed your whereabouts, and those with dirt on them will likely take you out on the way."
Captain Xing’s expression turned serious.
He knew those people would indeed do such a thing.
And they had the means to do it.
"Be careful."
"Hold on tight."
Chen Jin pressed the accelerator hard, speeding away.
But soon, anomalies appeared behind them.
Captain Xing’s hand reached for his waist, keeping a close eye on the direction of the rear of the car.
"They’re following, and there are a lot of them. There are pedestrians around, Assistant Chen, take the roads with fewer people, avoid collateral damage."
"Got it."
Chen Jin made a quick turn at the next intersection towards the outskirts.
Captain Xing called back to the station.
"Immediately dispatch personnel to the suburban area, and evacuate unrelated individuals in advance."
As soon as he put down the phone, the driver behind suddenly rushed up, brushing against Chen Jin’s car.
