"Zhiyi," Liao Yi continued, "the internet is all over you and Chu Yin right now. What are we going to do? I wish I had a few more hands to fight back against those keyboard warriors."
"Liao Yi, don’t worry for now. I’ll ask Chu Yin about the situation."
After hanging up, Lin Zhiyi immediately called Chu Yin, but found the call couldn’t get through.
Gong Chen took a look: "She must be getting harassed. Let me call Sang Li."
After the call connected, the two of them exchanged a few words before passing the call on.
Chu Yin sighed helplessly, "Zhiyi, I’m sorry for dragging you into this."
Lin Zhiyi asked curiously, "Did you really hit Fang Sisi?"
"Yeah."
"Good job. I’ve wanted to hit her for a while," Lin Zhiyi laughed.
"It felt good to hit her, but now the news is all negative about us. Fang Sisi seems determined not to let us off the hook. The company just informed me to take a break and canceled all my work. Actually, I know they probably don’t intend to sign with me anymore."
Chu Yin’s voice was tinged with bitterness.
She’s made the biggest sacrifice, yet ends up being slandered.
The more Lin Zhiyi thought about it, the angrier she became. The emotions she had vented at the shooting range gathered once more.
She knew she couldn’t let this slide without confronting Fang Sisi.
At that moment, the man beside her tugged at her arm.
Lin Zhiyi shook him off directly. She took a deep breath, thinking over things thoroughly.
Suddenly, inspiration struck.
"Chu Yin, since Fang Sisi has torn the veil, why are we still covering for her?"
"You mean..."
"Yeah."
Lin Zhiyi responded, as Gong Chen’s hand reached over.
She swatted it away, annoyed.
The man clicked his tongue, looking a bit aggrieved.
On the other end of the phone, Chu Yin said, "Alright, let’s post together in ten minutes."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Lin Zhiyi quickly typed, ensuring she fully expressed her thoughts.
As soon as ten minutes were up, she hit send and didn’t check the messages again.
Upon arriving home, Liao Yi was tiptoeing out of the children’s room.
Seeing the two of them, she ran over, emotionally charged.
"Zhiyi, are you okay?"
"I’m fine. You should go back and get some rest," Lin Zhiyi smiled.
"I can’t sleep. Tonight, I’m taking out my best keyboard and battling those keyboard warriors until dawn."
Finishing, she waved and left.
Lin Zhiyi checked on Xingxing in the children’s room before feeling at ease to head to her own room.
As soon as she walked into the master bedroom, a strong arm pulled her into an embrace, pinning her against the door.
Lin Zhiyi was momentarily shocked and struggled, "What are you doing?"
Gong Chen’s brows drew slightly together as he leaned down to meet her gaze.
Warm breaths rose and fell against her face.
"Zhiyi, you can trust me."
"Are you talking about the situation online?" Lin Zhiyi countered.
"Yes."
"But I can handle it myself. Why should I rely on you? Fang Sisi daring to implicate me and Chu Yin, is it not simply to drag you and Mr. Sang into the fray? It’s definitely the Bai family’s doing. I won’t let such a thing happen."
Lin Zhiyi spoke swiftly and sincerely.
For the past three years, though she never saw fleeing as a mistake.
She also realized some of her own issues.
She did indeed rely on her cleverness to solve some things.
But in the face of power and money, she was nothing.
If it weren’t for Sang Ran, she might have been forced to leave due to others, or walk the same path as in her past life.
So she reviews and learns from these matters, believing she’ll become better.
Lin Zhiyi looked up to meet his gaze: "You can trust me, too."
Gong Chen locked eyes with hers, noticing the sparkle in them.
The girl who once hid in the corner was finally growing into what she’d aspired to be.
"Alright, I trust you."
The final word was spoken against her lips, as Gong Chen kissed her.
Unprepared, Lin Zhiyi was kissed until she was dizzy, nearly tripping over her dress.
Finding the dress annoying, Gong Chen reached to tug it off.
Lin Zhiyi quickly blocked his hand: "It’s borrowed, worth over a million. I can’t afford to pay for it. I spent all my money setting up the studio."
Her gaze naturally followed, beginning to heat up in her nose.
The man did not shy away, leaning closer.
His arms braced against the counter, water droplets trickled down the taut muscles.
Soon, Lin Zhiyi’s clothes were soaked.
Gong Chen’s voice was hoarse, "You’re wet."
Lin Zhiyi’s cheeks felt ablaze, her gaze unconsciously flickering towards the towel.
She cursed her instincts.
Gong Chen raised his bandaged hand: "I meant the bandage is wet."
Lin Zhiyi felt all her blood rushing to her face.
She coughed forcefully, pretending to be calm, "Oh, then stop showering. Come out quickly, I’ll help you re-dress the wound."
Gong Chen’s eyes were enigmatic, "I think something’s stuck on my back, I can’t wash it off, it’s uncomfortable."
Knowing how particular he was about cleanliness, Lin Zhiyi instinctively said, "I’ll help you wash it off."
Loose lips!
Gong Chen’s gaze deepened, even bearing a hint of amusement.
Turning, he pulled Lin Zhiyi into the shower.
Splash—
Warm water cascaded from head to toe.
The man drew closer, hand supporting Lin Zhiyi’s nape, his lips moving slowly and deliberately over hers.
"Truly wet now, let’s shower together."
His voice was husky, breath slightly unsteady.
"You tricked me again," Lin Zhiyi’s ears burned.
"Fun," he coaxed softly.
"Just how much fun do you need?" Lin Zhiyi lamented.
"Discover it at your own pace."
With that, he deepened the kiss.
Lin Zhiyi was dazed, "Your hand..."
"It’s okay, I’ll be careful."
He affirmed verbally, but his hands showed no sign of stopping.
