"I..."
"Enough! Gloria, your sister is calling her boyfriend. Why are you interfering? Couples have sweet nothings to whisper. Your sister would be embarrassed," Jonathan interrupted Gloria.
Gloria huffed and sat to the side with her arms crossed.
Bianca took her phone and went outside.
What was she going to do without Sean's number?
She could only contact Elena.
"Hello? Is Sean coming or not? Can I count on you? That vixen Kate and her daughter are staring me down! If Sean doesn't come today, I'm really done for!" Bianca asked.
Elena was at home, having just finished dinner.
"Don't worry, I'll call Sean and ask!"
Elena then dialed Sean's number. He picked up after just one ring.
"Boss!" Sean's tone carried a hint of excitement.
"Didn't I ask you to go to Bianca's house for dinner tonight? Why aren't you there?"
So it was about this.
Sean felt slightly disappointed.
"Boss, I still have some work to handle. I'll go as soon as I'm done."
"Alright, hurry up. Bianca can't hold out much longer."
"But... Boss, why do you want me to help Bianca show off? That woman is tacky and vulgar. She's not a normal person at all. She clearly has nothing, yet she loves to pretend. I really don't like dealing with people like that." Sean finally voiced his concerns.
Elena sighed silently. "Sean, don't be like that. Bianca has her flaws, but she wasn't born this way. Actually, her background is very similar to yours. It's just that her mother was the first wife—a couple who could suffer through poverty together but couldn't share the wealth. So, mother and daughter were kicked out."
"What is it?"
"Mr. Maddox, are you going out? I thought you were working overtime again, so I prepared some food for you."
Sean checked the watch on his wrist. "It's getting late. You should get off work early. Keep the food for yourself. I have something to do tonight."
Jane wasn't willing to give up. She asked again, "Mr. Maddox, is it work-related? Are you meeting a client? Do you need me to come with you?"
"No need. It's a private matter." With that, Sean walked away with a cold expression.
Jane stood there, her feelings complicated.
She had been by Sean's side for a while now, and for Sean, it was basically work and more work.
He never had private matters.
