Daniel and Amanda were stunned.

"Elena, what did you say? Your father can walk again?"

"Well, we can try. I can't make any guarantees."

"You know medicine?"

"A little. I learned from a mentor a while back. From now on, you can leave Dad's legs to me!"

For her parents, this was an incredible surprise.

Not only had they found their real daughter, but she also knew medicine. She was a treasure!

That evening, Amanda was ecstatic. To celebrate Elena's return, she bustled around the kitchen, preparing a special meal.

Amanda emerged from the kitchen and shot him a glare. "Keep your voice down! You'll scare your sister. She just got here."

"Where is she? Where's my sister?"

The man's eyes scanned the room and landed on Elena, who was sitting on the sofa. Without a second thought, he rushed over and wrapped her in a bear hug.

"Ah! My real sister is home! I'm so happy!" he exclaimed excitedly, patting her back enthusiastically.

"Ahem..." Elena coughed lightly.

Luckily, she was in decent shape. Otherwise, a few more pats like that and her small frame might have fallen apart.

Amanda quickly pulled him away. "Watch it! Your sister is delicate, not a brute like you!"

She then turned to Elena, embarrassed. "Elena, this is your oldest brother, Ben Whelan! He's a bit of a blockhead, a real rough-around-the-edges kind of guy. Please don't mind him."

"Big brother," Elena managed to say.

He certainly was a brute. Tall and burly, a bit overweight, with a dark complexion.

She had seen her parents; they were not unattractive. Amanda, in particular, was quite beautiful, just worn down by hardship.

But this brother seemed to have perfectly avoided all their best genes, inheriting only their flaws.
