He held a knife in his hand, waiting for the moment Dylan was distracted to attack him directly from behind.
"Dylan, watch out!" a scream rang out.
Dylan turned around just in time to see Isabella lunging toward him.
The knife plunged straight into her shoulder.
Seeing that he had missed his primary target, the attacker immediately fled the scene.
"Isabella!" Dylan was in shock. He quickly caught her as she fell.
"Help! Someone help! Over here!"
Caleb jumped out of the car, panic setting in as he witnessed the scene.
"Mr. Sinclair, what happened?"
"There was an attacker. Notify security immediately, they have to catch him!"
"Yes, sir."
Caleb took off in pursuit, while Dylan held Isabella, dialed emergency services, and prepared to rush her to the hospital.
"Dylan... Dylan, I'm so scared..." Isabella looked up at him, her expression pitiful and fragile.
"Don't talk. The ambulance will be here any second."
Given the sudden violent attack, the police arrived quickly to investigate.
Caleb stayed behind to handle the authorities.
"What's going on?" Evelyn asked, puzzled by the flurry of activity and the grim faces around the estate.
"You haven't heard? Dylan ran into a knifeman in the parking garage," Damian Sinclair said.
"Is he dead?"
"No such luck. Isabella jumped in to save him. That woman really loves to meddle. Otherwise, the person dead right now might be Dylan. You know, if he actually died, wouldn't that just be delightful?" Damian said with blatant schadenfreude.
Evelyn rolled her eyes at him. "Why don't you go die instead?"
She couldn't stand Damian. He was a useless idiot.
The problem was that this idiot had a silver tongue. He was an expert at sweet-talking people, often keeping Xavier Sinclair in high spirits.
Xavier treated Damian better than anyone else.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely outlive you," Damian retorted smugly before walking away.
Evelyn glared at his retreating back, swearing internally that she would find a way to kick Damian out of the picture for good.
