Anyone normal would be trembling at this setup.
“Fine, since you’re in charge, let’s talk about your brother. He stole my company’s materials to sell, constituting theft. Additionally, he injured my employee. With witness testimony and physical evidence, multiple charges are entirely reasonable!” Foster said, staring at Elena.
“My brother was framed! He has a simple nature; he would never do such a thing. You planted it on him!” Claire couldn't help but retort.
Chris added, “We want to see the surveillance footage. The video will prove it.”
“Sorry, the cameras are broken. You can’t see anything. Regarding Ben stealing and hitting people, we have witnesses. Especially the assault—many people saw it.”
“The witnesses you speak of are your people; they aren't credible. They plotted with Oliver to frame my brother!” Chris shouted.
“Framed? Ha! Him hitting someone is a fact. Even if we go to court, your brother is going to jail!”
Foster finished, then looked at Elena. “Why isn’t the person in charge saying anything?”
Elena finally spoke. “Spit it out. What do you want to release my brother?”
Foster smiled knowingly. He had been waiting for this moment. He got up from his chair and walked over to Elena.
Claire and Chris, worried he would hurt Elena, tried to step forward, but Elena stopped them.
Elena held his gaze, her eyes cold and unflinching.
Foster stood in front of Elena and smirked.
“One million. Pay one million dollars in compensation, and we drop the matter!”
“A million! Why don’t you just rob a bank! Oliver isn’t even dead!” Claire was furious.
A million dollars was an astronomical sum for a family like theirs. There was no way they could come up with it.
