“I don't know either. She called me earlier and said her 'Aunt Flo' was gone, and she wanted me to come over to keep her company and cheer her up. I figured since her aunt was gone, she must be very sad. So, I went to the florist and bought a funeral wreath and a bouquet of chrysanthemums to take to her place. But she got really angry and kicked me out. She said there was something wrong with my brain and that she despised me,” Ben said with an innocent look.
Elena was speechless.
Listening to this, Amanda raised her hand, wanting to hit him.
But she lowered it mid-air.
“You... how can you be so stupid! What goes on in that head of yours!” Amanda felt so exasperated.
She was a woman too; how could he not understand what 'Aunt Flo' meant?
Elena actually smiled. “Mom, don't be angry. Ben is truly cute. He's just too innocent; he didn't understand her meaning.”
Ben continued, “I just don't understand. Elwood said before that chrysanthemums are for deceased people, so I bought chrysanthemums and ordered a wreath. Back in our village, when people died, we always bought wreaths. What's wrong with that?”
Elena patted Ben on the shoulder. “Ben, you were indeed wrong. 'Aunt Flo' refers to a girl's period. Do you think she'd be happy if you sent her a funeral wreath?”
“Is that so? I've never heard of that...” Ben scratched his head.
Only now did he understand where he went wrong.
“How about this, Ben, send Elise a message and explain it to her. I believe she will forgive you,” Elena suggested.
“Okay!” Ben said, taking out his phone to message Elise.
He typed out a bunch of apologies, but they wouldn't go through!
“Little Sister, Elise blocked me! It looks like she really wants to break up with me!” Ben said anxiously.
“Let me see.”
Elena saw the red exclamation mark on the screen.
It seemed Elise was very angry!
“Call her and explain!”
