Rebirth: Leading Families to Survive in the Apocalypse novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68: Chapter 68 Practical Combat

By then, the last zombie dog was nearly taken care of by Nie Qing and Lu Guanhai. Lu Hao had intended to lend a hand to his master and dad, but watching the two of them fighting back-to-back seriously against the small zombie dog, he actually thought it was quite good.

So, he walked over to Su Jin’s side, watching and chatting with her.

Nie Qing: …

Lu Guanhai: …

They even heard behind them the sounds of Lin Tianhui and Lin Tianzhen cracking sunflower seeds and chatting with Su Xiangzhe, the seeds must have been pilfered from the mini supermarket earlier.

After Lu Guanhai had chopped the small zombie dog’s body apart with the watermelon knife, he sat down on the ground with a plop, gasping for air and leaning on Nie Qing behind him, “Didn’t you say you were a high-powered individual from somewhere? Why don’t you look like one at all?”

Nie Qing countered, feeling indignant, “Even high-powered individuals have specialties, and I’ve never encountered zombies.”

“Master, Dad, stop arguing, it’s time to go,” said Lu Hao as he walked over and helped them both up from the ground.

“Humph, I wouldn’t argue with him anyway. He’d better not expect any favors from me in the future.”

With his nose in the air, Nie Qing walked off, while Lu Guanhai continued to shout from behind, “You expect favors from me? Show me how you kill a zombie dog then.”

Taking advantage of their bickering, Su Jin had already collected two cans of reserve fuel from the gas station into her Space, and Lu Hao found two beast cores inside the heads of three of the zombie dogs.

When the family was about to get on the bus and leave, they found that seven or eight zombies had already surrounded the minibus. The doors and windows of the minibus had been sealed tight by Lin Cheng, so there was no immediate danger.

Mao Qiqi, dragging her cheeks, watched the excited zombies beating against the windows with boredom, wondering when her mother and the others would return.

Lin Cheng helplessly shrugged his shoulders toward his family not far away, indicating that the situation outside was in their hands.

“Dad, Mom, Auntie, Auntie-in-law, each of you pick one,” Su Jin suggested, her arm around Lin Tianhui’s shoulder.

“Darling, how about that female zombie in the pink dress? Do you think I could take her?” Lin Tianhui pointed at the zombie currently pounding on the car door and asked.

“I think you can,” Su Jin said, stroking her chin and sizing up the zombie Lin Tianhui was referring to.

Huang Yunxiang and Lin Tianzhen were also discussing choosing zombies. The men were somewhat speechless, and watching the women like this made them lose all enthusiasm for slaughtering zombies.

In the end, the three women all chose seemingly easier-to-kill female zombies, and by then, two or three zombies had noticed them and were walking towards them, including the pink-dressed female zombie Lin Tianhui mentioned.

Lin Tianhui gripped the watermelon knife tightly; she was no longer as scared as before. Once a person took the first step, the rest became easier than imagined.

Overwhelmed with a tremendous sense of achievement, Lin Tianhui happily grabbed Su Jin’s hand and hopped around in circles. Meanwhile, the other five people were also brandishing their knives at the remaining three zombies without any slack in their vigilance.

From inside the bus, Lin Cheng and Mao Qiqi could see such a scene. Watching Auntie still spinning in circles, Mao Qiqi covered her eyes…

The five zombies were quickly dispatched by the five people; both Mao Zhihang and Lin Tianzhen had successfully killed one each. Lin Xiuyuan, his arm hanging limply, gave them a thumbs up.

Nie Qing had also killed a zombie, triumphantly showing off to Lu Guanhai.

The family got back on the minibus, heading towards Yin Chengtian and Shi Jin.

Inside the minibus, the family no longer felt the tension they had when they first arrived.

Lin Xiuyuan was almost fully recovered; in fact, he was feeling quite proud. The ice-freezing ability he used earlier was his own creation, and he hadn’t expected it to work so well.

Looking at her son, who was giggling foolishly, Huang Yunxiang shook her head and changed her seat again.

“Mom, why? Could it be that you’re disgusted with me?” Seeing his mother change seats twice, Lin Xiuyuan couldn’t help but ask.

“Oh no, it’s not that, I just can’t explain it very well,” she stammered.

“Mom, when did you get such severe sweaty palms?” he muttered, as the watermarks on both sides of the seat were clearly shaped like hands, so he thought Huang Yunxiang was nervous enough to have sweaty palms.
