Chapter 145: Chapter 145: A Charmed Life

About the base establishment, the group chatted with great enthusiasm, yet there was still a lot they needed to busy themselves with. Besides Dragon Leap Villa, the entire City West area required surveying. Therefore, Liang Jiuhui and others were ready to take their leave. Su Jin did suggest they stay for lunch before they went, but knowing how hard food was to come by, they politely declined.
“Oh, Su Jin, Miaomiao asked me to say hello to you on her behalf. There have been so many injured at the refuge lately, she wanted to come but just couldn’t make it,” Liang Jiuqing almost forgot to mention, as Miaomiao did worry quite a bit about Su Jin and the others.
Su Jin nodded and replied, “Please thank her for me.”
Who would have thought that Zheng Miaomiao, who they had rescued by chance, would be such good friends with the future leader of the S city base, they wondered if the group she had been with originally regretted not keeping her, especially her ex-boyfriend who was just plain stupid.
“Lu Hao, may I be so bold as to ask what level your special ability is?” Liang Jiuhui asked suddenly, just before getting in the car.
“Level Three,” Lu Hao answered truthfully.
Liang Jiuhui nodded. Liang Jiuqing could see the surprise in his eyes. She too was quite astonished; she had never heard of a Level Three Special Ability User before. Even Liang Jiuhui himself only had a level two initial stage ability.
“I thought you would hide your strength,” Su Jin said once they were back inside the house.
“Why hide it? Is there a need?” Lu Hao asked, puzzled.
Well, when she thought about it, indeed they didn’t seem to need to hide anything at this point. Apart from her own special ability level, which might be surprisingly high, and the Wood Spirit Space, there really wasn’t much to hide since they planned to use this place as the main base for their entire team.

Near the S city refuge, in an abandoned warehouse, a brawny man in a black vest was kicking a man on the floor, who was incessantly begging for mercy. The man had already been beaten black and blue, and from one of his arms, wrapped in old rags, dark red blood gradually seeped out. It was hard to recognize him, but it was still possible to tell—this was Liu Jiajin, who had been captured a few days earlier to attract zombies.
“Alright, stop hitting him. If you kill him, it’ll be a hassle if it attracts the zombies,” a woman, sitting casually on an abandoned couch and wiping her nails with a damp cloth, said with impatience.
The burly man finally stopped and continued to swear under his breath, “He’s always looking half-dead, can’t even cook a meal properly. Why the hell did we save him, ugh,” he spit in disdain.
After finishing with her nails, the woman put the remainder of the used wet cloth into her space and stood up, taking the burly man’s arm in an attempt to comfort him, “Brother Zhao, you saved me too. This guy was just incidental. You shouldn’t waste your energy on him.”
Later, he gathered others who had escaped from the same prison, forming the group they were now a part of. Each was ruthless, and they thrived in the apocalypse.
Sun Yixue knew Zhao Bin seemed to be the boss of these people, but there was actually another person who was their real leader, rumored to be in a safe refuge. However, she had never seen this person’s true face, nor did she know how formidable he was.
Yet, having Zhao Bin’s favor was enough for her. The only problem was that since she arrived, the supplies from her space were only going out, never in. Zhao Bin would occasionally ask her to take things out, for eating, for use…
Once, when she showed a hint of dissatisfaction, Zhao Bin’s face darkened instantly, frightening her into hastily pulling out twice as much to calm his mood.
Today, once again, Zhao Bin asked her to bring out food; she dared not show the slightest sign of resistance. A few days ago, the group had taken in two women, one of whom was said to be a minor celebrity before the apocalypse, and those men had gruesomely abused them to death. The pitiful state of the women before their death was still vivid in her mind. Fortunately, she had her “Space Element Ability” to protect her, and seeing Zhao Bin’s face, no one dared to touch her. Otherwise, her fate wouldn’t be much better.
Looking at the group of men exuding a foul stench, Sun Yixue frowned slightly but still lifted her face, smiling as she took out a box of packaged instant noodles.
One of the men brought out a dirty, greasy iron pot that hadn’t been washed for who knows how many days, and placed it on a makeshift stove made of bricks; then someone with a “Water Element Ability” filled the pot with water. Next, Zhao Bin ignited the wood in the stove with his “Fire Element Ability” as the group of men watched the pot eagerly, as if anticipating a feast of delicacies.
Sun Yixue squatted on the ground, tearing open the instant noodle packets one by one. There wasn’t much left in her space. She didn’t know what would happen to her the day she couldn’t bring out anything more; she could just hope that the plan Zhao Bin and the others spoke of would be successful by then.
