Chapter 395: ’No More Facade.’

’Hm? How did I... know? I just read it somewhere.’ Alexandria answered a little too quickly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Now, we really need to—"

"I never wanted to entertain the idea," Florian said, cutting her off, his voice low but steady, eyes fixed on her like a blade.

Alexandria froze mid-step, turning to look at him. Her smile faltered just slightly.

Florian didn’t move closer. He didn’t need to.

"I didn’t want to think it was you." His voice trembled—not from fear, but from the weight of betrayal beginning to settle. "Azure going missing... and you just so happening to be with me during tea time. The way you’d smile, then slip up—just barely—when telling His Majesty things I supposedly did wrong, like you were testing to see how far you could push him."

Alexandria’s eyes widened, but Florian didn’t stop. His words were building, sharp as daggers and aimed directly at her.

"The bee incident. The drinks being cold after you conveniently spilled yours when I nudged you. You knowing about my outfit getting ruined despite no one telling you. You being the only other one—besides Cashew—who knew about my notes. My butterflies avoiding you like they were terrified. And you..." His jaw tightened. "You were the one who told me they were poisonous."

He paused, breathing heavily, as realization after realization pieced itself together in his mind like a puzzle he had desperately tried not to solve.

’Heinz... he’s always been distant with the princesses. Always watching. Always testing. He kept saying to be careful who I trust. And I thought he was just paranoid.’

But maybe he wasn’t.

’Maybe he knew something. Maybe... he suspected it all along.’

Alexandria was still silent, but her body had tensed.

’The person who tried to ruin me. The one who got close enough to hurt my butterflies. To poison Heinz... To manipulate me from the shadows...’

Florian’s eyes darkened.

’It was someone in the harem. It was someone close.’

And as that final thread snapped in his chest, he realized the truth that had been clawing at him for weeks.

It was her.

Alexandria.

The woman he had so desperately wanted to believe was kind—because the novel painted her that way.

Alexandria’s lips twitched. Her eyes shimmered—not with tears of regret, but with amusement.

She let out a breathy, shaky laugh, her hand rising to cover her mouth as if she were trying to stifle something feral.

And then, she dropped the mask.

Her posture shifted, relaxed into something cruel and proud. Her mouth stretched into a wide, unhinged grin.

A psychotic smile.

And then the laughter came.

"HAHAHAHA!" Her voice cracked with the force of it. "HAHAHA—Oh, you should’ve seen your face!"

Florian didn’t move. He didn’t blink. He simply watched. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Watched the woman he once respected disintegrate into a monster before him.

’I was so fucking blinded by who she was in the novel... I kept denying the truth screaming in my face.’

He clenched his fists at his sides. His nails bit into his palms, but the pain kept him grounded.

His voice, when he finally spoke, was hoarse. Cold. Not from weakness—but from the devastation of betrayal.

"Why?"

Alexandria’s laughter finally died down, tapering into a trembling breath as she wiped the lone tear from her cheek—though it was unclear if it was from joy or madness.

Her face, once sweet and composed, now twisted with something raw and unhinged.

"Why? Is that even a question?" she asked mockingly, her voice dripping with venom.

"Yes," Florian said firmly, his heart pounding as he stood his ground. "Why have you been doing this? Why... go this far? For what?"

"Because you keep trying to steal His Majesty!" she suddenly screamed, the last mask on her face shattering completely. "Out of everyone in this godforsaken harem, only I loved him! From the very beginning!"

"You did too once, didn’t you?! Before—before you changed!" Her voice cracked, brittle with rage. "He neglected you! He forgot about you! You were nothing! But then you changed, and suddenly he was different too!"

"CUT THE CRAP!" she shrieked, lunging a step forward. Florian instinctively backed away, wary of the unpredictable storm in front of him. Her face twisted in fury.

"I see how you look at him! You disgusting thing! You’re a witch, aren’t you?! You must have cursed His Majesty! That’s the only explanation! He doesn’t even call for us anymore—he doesn’t look at us—not once since you ’changed’!"

"How the fuck is that my fault?!" Florian shouted back, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You’re supposed to be some kind of saintess—why are you acting like a lunatic?"

"His Majesty... he saved me. He gave me something to live for. And then you came. With your pathetic little butterflies and your fragile voice. He stopped seeing me. He only ever sees you. It was supposed to be me and him!"

"How is any of that my fault?!" Florian roared again, fury rising in his throat. "Maybe—just maybe—he sensed how insane you really are!"

His hands clenched. He was trembling now—not out of fear, but out of adrenaline. ’I could push her away. I’m taller, stronger. She won’t overpower me. I’ll shove her aside and scream for help.’

"Well unfortunately, Prince Florian," she hissed, her hand reaching under the folds of her gown, "the one who’s going to come out as crazy... is you."

"What the fuck?" he whispered. "Are you—are you planning to kill me?"
