Whew…
Darryl did not take the boy's words to heart, but he still frowned.
That guy was quite something.
Darryl looked at himself. He chuckled in self-deprecation. Admittedly, he did look pretty terrifying dressed like that.
"Group Brother!"
The girl yanked at the man and spoke in a low voice. "Don't sound so hostile. I don't think he means any harm."
As she spoke, the girl looked at Darryl. "You aren't scared of wolves?"
Her voice was clear and crisp, laced with curiosity. It was clear that she had not seen much of the world yet.
Darryl nodded.
Then, he made his way to the hill. As he looked into the trees in the distance, he could see the hundreds of wolves that had gathered densely in the forest ahead. The wolves were huge, and their gazes glinted dangerously. It was a bone-chilling sight to take in.
'F*ck! There are quite a few of them.'
Darryl drew a huge breath. He turned toward the girl and asked, "What are you two doing here?"
That was a dangerous place, one that few visited.
"We—"
The question seemed to make the girl sad as her eyes reddened. "Bad guys have taken our master, and Group Brother and I are looking for him. We passed by here, but there are wolves here."
"I've been told that you should run to a high place if you run into wolves, so they won't dare attack you."
The girl looked close to tears.
Their master had been kidnapped?
Darryl froze when he heard that.
"Group Sister!"
The boy seemed to panic. He yanked at the girl and scolded her. "Why'd you tell him all that? The guy's spouting nonsense, and he looks crazy. Who knows what he's up to?"
As the words rang through the air, Darryl began his descent down the hill in the wolves' direction in the forest.
The man gasped in shock. That man was crazy! Was he really going to go against the wolves by himself?
At the same time, the girl trembled in shock as well. She could not help but cry out to Darryl. "Hey, what are you doing?" As she spoke, her gaze was full of shock and worry.
There were hundreds of wolves in the forest. How could he go up against them alone? He would be eaten alive, with no bones to spare.
Darryl turned around to flash a quick smile at the girl. He had an uncaring look on his face. "What else? I'm going to go up against the wolves, of course."
The girl trembled in shock, unable to hide the worry in her expression. "Don't… don't be rash…"
The girl had a kind heart, and despite having just met Darryl, she did not wish to see him walk headfirst into a trap.
However, before she could finish speaking, the boy cut her off.
"Group Sister!"
The boy furrowed his brows, clearly impatient. "Why do you care so much for him? If he wants to die, let him!"
