The rest of the guards looked fearfully at Darryl; none of them dared to charge forward.
Darryl stopped and mocked Grady, "How could you possibly be responsible for the security of Pearl City with this level of strength? You’ve probably embarrassed your family!"
‘F*ck!’ Grady was extremely annoyed, but he did not respond.
He merely signalled to his men to leave. He could see that the man in front of him was very powerful, even though that guy was no match for him.
After going not far away, Grady turned around and stared at Darryl and Thea. “Thea, you’d better watch out now that you dare to instruct your subordinates to fight me."
Then, he ran away quickly. He decided that since the family guards were no match for Thea, he would get more soldiers from the Temple of Light.
‘Idiot!’ Darryl cursed under his breath as he watched Grady walk away, his face full of disdain.
At that instance, Thea was worried sick. "Darryl, let's go quickly. Grady is cunning and he’ll definitely be back for revenge."
Darryl shook his head and looked at the Damien family manor in front of him. "Since we’re here, let's go in and take a look."
Darryl would not let go of Lolita.
Thea was a smart woman and understood what Darryl was thinking. "Miss Lolita is really lucky to have a man like you to protect her."
With that said, Thea was the first one to take a step into the manor.
Finally, they got to the garden in the back of the manor and Darryl was close to reaching Lolita’s room. However, a man with his subordinates stood in Darryl and Thea’s way suddenly.
“Stop!” the man said.
He looked to be in his forties and had sunken cheeks, giving him a lecherous look. The man was Donnie. He had been resting when he learned Thea came with a man and wounded many guards. They had managed to scare Grady away. After Thea trespassed into the manor, Donnie immediately brought his people to stop the pair.
"Thea! What are you doing here with this man sneaking into my house in the middle of the night? Don’t you know the laws?” he said coldly.
Donnie's attention was entirely on Thea; he did not pay Darryl's slightest bit of attention. Like Grady, Donnie assumed Darryl was Thea’s subordinate and did not pay attention to him.
"Miss Lolita and I are friends. I came back to Pearl City to see her. Can’t I do that?" Thea responded casually, her face expressionless.
