Perfect Husband, The Destined One novel Chapter 3399

A sinking suspicion started to grow in the Queen's heart. Darius and the others were right. Darren was a convict from the Day Rise Principality and seemed close with the woman who tried to impersonate the Goddess of Light. She should be wary of him.

"Your Majesty, would I help you fend off Vernon's if I'm really planning to hurt you? Besides, my life is in your hands now. I'll be sentenced to death if I poison you," Darryl explained when he saw the Queen's expression.

The Queen pondered his words. After ten seconds or so, the Queen nodded. "Fine, I'll believe you this one time." Then she took the pill from Darryl and ingested it while Darius panicked.

The royal guards waited with bated breath for the medicine to take effect. They started to position themselves around Darryl, closing any path of escape for him. They would lob his head off if the Queen showed even the tiniest sign of discomfort. Darryl, to his credit, was not worried about the pill's efficacy at all.

Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye, and everyone could visibly see the colors coming back to the Queen's cheek. The Queen smiled and said, "I feel so much better! The pill is truly remarkable."

Darius and the royal guards were stunned at how fast the medicine worked. The Queen's eyes darkened as she asked Darryl gravely, "I must ask, what is your relationship with the Goddess of Light and what part did you play with the Day Rise Principality using a fake Goddess of Light as an excuse to start a war?"

The Queen's tone, though gentle, was also imbued with an over-domineering aura.

"Your Majesty, this person is a convict. It seems a little ill-advised to make him a front guard," Darius said. The royal guards nodded too. After all, Darryl was only a saint king. He was not qualified to be a front guard.

"Do I need your permission to do what I want? Leave now!" the Queen shouted with anger written all over her face.

Seeing the Queen's anger, Darius began to tremble in his boots. "Your Majesty, please forgive me!" he said while the royal guards had been struck silent by the outburst.
