"Um, the car is still waiting for you outside. You should probably get going."

"What were you doing in there for so long?"

York twisted open a bottle of water and chugged half of it.

Peter stared at York's unusual behavior, sensing something was wrong.

"Did that little brat molest you or something?"

York turned his head to stare out the window. "Just drive."

Peter started the car.

"So, what did Claudia get you for your birthday this year? Let me see."

"Don't be ridiculous," York muttered dismissively, his fingers unconsciously drifting to touch his Adam's apple.

Late that night, at the Ferguson Mansion, York entered the living room to find his grandfather and parents still awake.

He went over to greet them.

His father, Sewell, glanced at the time, his expression disapproving.

"From now on, focus more on the company and your studies. Spend less time running over to the Watkins' place!"

York couldn't help but frown.

In the past, his father never said a word, even when he stayed over at the Watkins' house.

But today, on his and Claudia's shared birthday, his father was saying this.

York looked at his father, puzzled. "Dad, if you have something to say, just say it."

Before Sewell could speak, Old Mr. Ferguson urged York upstairs.

"It's nothing. Go on up and get some rest."

York nodded and left the living room.

After York was gone, Wendy asked her husband, "We've always been close with the Watkins family, and York and Claudia grew up together. Why are you suddenly telling York to distance himself from them?"
