She had to find a way to convince him to help her keep the fact that she'd had a child a secret. If York softened toward her, maybe they still had a chance.

As if drawn by an unseen force, Ann approached York's desk. Her eyes, like a viper's, locked onto the woman's face in the wedding photo on the screen.
