"Good... night."
I finally came back to my senses a few seconds later. I turned over, held my head and asked Hendrix, "How did you know that Cyril was also at that bar?"
"I didn't." Hendrix smiled proudly with his eyes closed. He looked as though everything was under his control.
"You didn't?" I didn't believe him. "Then, could you be so sure that someone would pick Freya up?"
Hendrix finally opened his eyes and looked at me with his deep dark eyes. He said, "Because I've truly understood the feeling of missing someone, especially when they refuse to see each other."
"Any other details?" I suddenly became very interested and waited anxiously for his explanation.
Hendrix slowly closed his eyes again and refused to say anything else. "My lips are dry. I don't have the strength to continue."
He had picked up Aaron's arrogant way of speaking it seems.
All in all, wasn't he simply trying to get the better of me right now?
I didn't have a choice because I too wanted to satisfy my own curiosity and hear about this gossip really badly. Although I was reluctant to do it, I kissed him on his face.
"Done. Can you tell me now?"
Hendrix looked really proud of himself. Although he quickly hid it from me, I could still see it.
I should have stood my ground. I should have just cried and make a fuss about it. I'm sure he would have told me anyway.
I couldn't believe that I let him take advantage of me like that!
Fortunately, Hendrix kept his word and didn't push it further.
"Woah! Could it be?"
I stopped talking because I had suddenly realized something. I had finally understood the situation.
No matter how hard she tried, she still couldn't bear to end their relationship.
She could ignore his messages, avoid his calls, and hide away somewhere while she watched him suffer. She was pretending not to feel anything, but she was really fighting against her own emotions deep inside. Up until now. She had finally broken down completely.
Freya seemed to have a unique sense of reasoning when it came to relationships. Whether it was with Zachary or Cyril. She could always weigh the pros and cons incredibly well. Even if she couldn't end the relationship on good terms, she would also put herself in the position with the least to lose.
However, all that deft reasoning of hers obviously didn't work on Cyril. Based on Freya's reaction towards him, he had become the one exception in her life.
I laid down on Hendrix's chest and caressed him lovingly. "Hey, why do you know so much about Freya? Did you send someone to keep an eye on her?"
