My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 83

Marina bit her lip, trying to look smaller, weaker. “I… I didn’t mean to upset Auntie. I just… I thought...”

“No, you thought only about yourself,” Lily snapped. “Because everything with you is always about you. Your tears. Your hurt. Your worries. Not once did you stop and think what Mum actually wants. She doesn’t want to see you. She doesn’t want you here. Isn’t that clear enough?”

Marina’s cheeks flushed red as if Lily had slapped her. She looked up at David quickly, her voice trembling. “David… you see how she talks to me… I just came with good intentions.”

David finally spoke, his voice low. “Lily…”

But Lily turned to him, her own anger finally spilling. “Don’t ‘Lily’ me. You saw it yourself, David. Mum doesn’t want her here. She’s sick, lying in a hospital bed, and instead of respecting her wish, you’re standing here letting this woman cling to you like she owns you.”

David’s brows knitted tighter. “Marina only came to visit....."

“Visit?” Lily let out a sharp, humorless laugh. she pointed at Marina holding David’s hand, “this is not a visit. This is her staking her claim in front of your wife and your mother.”

The room went dead silent after that. Olivia’s lips curved faintly, almost like relief that Lily finally said it out loud.

David clenched his jaw, his hand twitching slightly, but he didn’t pull away from Marina immediately. That hesitation, that one small hesitation, cut Lily deeper than any word could.

Her voice grew softer, but sharper at the same time. “You know, David… it doesn’t even hurt me anymore. I’m just tired. So tired of watching you choose her every single time. At least leave for me dignity in front of your mother "

Marina’s eyes widened, sensing the heaviness in Lily’s tone. She quickly pulled at David’s arm. “David, I think I should go...."

But before she could finish, Olivia slammed her palm weakly on the blanket. “Yes, go. Get out of my sight.”

Marina froze, her lips trembling. “Auntie…”

“I said get out!” Olivia’s voice cracked but carried force. “If you don’t leave right now, I’ll call security myself.”

Lily immediately bent down, worried for Olivia’s health. “Mum, calm down, please…”

Olivia’s chest rose and fell unevenly, her breaths coming sharp. She looked at Marina with pure disgust. “I don’t care who you fool outside, but not here. This is my ward, my space, and I won’t allow you to step in here again. Get out before I collapse again right in front of you.”

Marina’s face went pale. For the first time, her fake composure cracked. She looked around helplessly, first at David, then at Lily, but no one came to her defense. Even David looked torn, his lips pressed tightly, his eyes dark but unreadable.

Finally, she let go of his hand slowly, her fingers slipping away, and stepped back.

“Alright…” she whispered weakly, tears still rolling down. “I’ll leave.” She glanced at David one last time as if waiting for him to stop her. He didn’t.

With that, Marina turned, her heels clicking softly against the hospital floor as she walked out, her assistant following quickly behind her.
