Riyana didn’t know what she was supposed to think anymore, or what she was supposed to do.
She had been worried ever since that day, even though she kept telling herself she shouldn’t be. She had no right to worry.
She wasn’t his secretary anymore. She had already stepped out of his world. Going back to him was not an option, no matter how restless her heart felt.
Just like she expected, there was no news from Jabco after that day. No calls. No messages. Nothing.
Days passed in a blur.
She threw herself into her new work, forcing herself to focus, forcing her life to move forward. Slowly, she began adjusting to her new routine.
Today, she had an important meeting at the film location with the actor and John. It was her first official on-site discussion, and she didn’t want to mess it up.
She arrived by taxi. As soon as she paid and stepped out, she turned around casually.
And froze.
Her eyes stopped on a familiar black car.
She knew that car too well.
Before she could process it, the door opened. Lily stepped out first, followed by David Hardison.
“Riyana?” Lily spotted her immediately and waved, her smile warm and genuine as always.
Riyana returned the smile, but her gaze instinctively shifted to the man standing beside Lily.
David’s expression was stiff. Dark. Clearly unhappy.
The moment Lily noticed his face, her smile faded. She leaned closer to him and muttered sharply, “Why are you looking at her like that? You’re scaring her.”
David shot Lily an angry glance. His voice was low but edged with accusation.
“So this is where you’re meeting him? Is this your plan?”
Lily stared at him, stunned.
Before leaving home that morning, she had argued with him endlessly, telling him not to drive her to work. He had insisted, despite her anger. And now, seeing Riyana here, everything clicked in his mind.
If Riyana was here, then Jabco must be here too.
That was what he believed.
Lily clenched her teeth, her chest tightening. She finally understood what he was thinking and it infuriated her.
He had kept her in his private villa for a whole week. Away from her son. Away from her work. They had only returned last night.
Even after that, he hadn’t let her out of his sight for a second. This morning, when she said she was going to work, he followed her again.
She was already exhausted by his constant clinging.
And now he was accusing her?
“How dare you,” she snapped.
“If you don’t leave right now,” Lily said coldly, lifting her hand and pointing at her ring finger, “I’ll throw this ring in your face. Right here. In front of everyone.”
Her fingers hooked under the ring as if she was ready to pull it off.
David’s anger faltered, replaced by panic. He knew her well enough to know she meant it.
