My Husband's Affair My Anniversary Gift (Lily and David) novel Chapter 279

Jabco slowly set his glass down on the table. The sound was soft, but to him it felt loud.

He stood up.

“Where?” he asked, his voice calm but cold.

Shina pointed toward the railing. “Ground floor. Near the bar counter.”

Rogan straightened. “Jabco, relax. Maybe it’s just...”

But Jabco was already walking.

He didn’t say another word.

As he reached the railing, he placed both hands on it and looked down.

The bar below was crowded. People moving, laughing, lights flashing. His eyes scanned the room once, twice....

Then he saw her.

Riyana was standing near the counter, a glass in her hand. She was smiling. Not the polite smile she used at work. A real one,Soft,Free.

She was wearing a simple dress, nothing flashy, but it fit her perfectly. Her hair was loose, framing her face in a way he had never seen before.

And beside her stood a man.

Too close.

The man leaned in slightly as he spoke. Riyana laughed at something he said, her head tilting back just a little.

Something inside Jabco snapped.

His jaw tightened. His chest felt tight, like he couldn’t breathe properly.

So this is where she went, he thought.

So this is why she left early.

Behind him, Shina came up and leaned against the railing too. “See? Told you.”

Jabco didn’t respond.

He couldn’t look away.

The man said something again. Riyana nodded, then took a sip of her drink. She looked relaxed. Happy.

And that made it worse.

Rogan walked over, sensing the mood. “You okay?” he asked quietly.

Jabco didn’t answer right away.

Why does this bother me so much?

He had been surrounded by women all his life. He had seen secretaries date, marry, leave. None of it had ever mattered.

So why now?

Why her?

“She’s free,” Shina said lightly, as if reading his mind. “Good for her, honestly.”

Jabco’s hand clenched into a fist.

Free.

The word echoed painfully.

He turned away from the railing abruptly.

Back at the table, Jabco grabbed the bottle, poured a full glass, and drank it in one go.

“Jabco…” Shina and Rogan both froze.

“What’s wrong with him?” Shina asked, looking at Rogan. Just a few minutes ago, Jabco had barely touched his drink. Now he was drinking like he wanted to drown something.

Rogan walked over and sat beside him. Shina sat on the other side.

“Calm down,” Rogan said, taking the glass from Jabco’s hand.

Jabco shot him a sharp look, but Rogan did not back away.

“What’s wrong with you?” Rogan asked. “She’s just your secretary. You don’t get to control her life. All these years she stayed by your side, day and night. You never cared. So what now? She’s a woman. She can’t spend her whole life following her boss.”
