His eyes flickered, unreadable, but his tone was sharp as a blade. “We’re not divorced yet. You’re still my wife. It’s your duty.”
Wife.
The word hit her like a slap. Ironic, cruel.
Lily laughed bitterly, her voice shaking. “Wife? Then go find someone else to play house with. I’m tired of this.”
Her hand itched to slap him, but she held herself back. Instead, she shoved him aside and stormed toward her room.
“David, get lost!” she shouted without looking back.
But the heavy footsteps followed.
Her hand reached for the door, but before she could slam it shut, David caught it, forcing it open. He stepped inside, his towering frame filling the space.
“David...”
Her words were cut off when he slammed her against the wall. His lips claimed hers once more, rougher, hungrier.
“Mmph....!”
Lily thrashed, fists beating against his chest, legs kicking, but he trapped her completely, his strength overwhelming. His tongue forced its way into her mouth, dominating, relentless.
She tried to stay strong, tried to fight, but her body betrayed her. The remnants of alcohol in her veins, the heat of his touch, the familiar scent, everything tangled into a dangerous haze.
Her hand, instead of pushing him away, clutched at his shirt. Her body trembled, caught between rage and weakness.
Her mind screamed no, but her body… her body was beginning to react.
His rough hands slipped under her fabric, and Lily shivered at his sudden touch. She was only in her pajamas, thin and loose, nothing underneath to hide the warmth of her skin. David’s eyes darkened, his lips crashing against hers with a kiss that grew hungrier by the second.
