Chapter 667
“I don’t need the details,” Brandon shot back. “I’ve seen enough of the pattern you play. You’re still preying on the weak just to squeeze money out of them.” He leaned back in his chair, his gaze resting on Falcon, relaxed yet cutting. “That’s… pathetic.”
The room fell silent again.
Juan didn’t interrupt. If anything, he watched them more closely now, as though curious to see where this conversation would lead.
Falcon didn’t respond right away. He slowly rotated the glass in his hand, the faint movement almost hypnotic, before finally speaking. “You think this is about money?”
“Isn’t it always?” Brandon shrugged.
Falcon smiled, but there was nothing friendly about it. It was the kind of smile that revealed nothing, something far more difficult to read. “If it were just about money, I wouldn’t bother. I have plenty of it.”
Brandon narrowed his eyes slightly. “Then what?”
Falcon set his glass down gently, the sound barely audible. This time, when he looked at Brandon, there was no trace of amusement left. “She’s not just a debt,” he said calmly.
Brandon didn’t look away. His gaze stayed fixed on his brother, waiting.
“She’s a gateway.”
The words hung in the air, heavy with meaning that wasn’t explained.
Brandon didn’t respond immediately. He kept looking at Falcon, but for the first time, there was a shift in his expression. Not entirely relaxed anymore. A pause stretched between them, too deliberate to ignore.
“A gateway,” he repeated quietly, as if testing the word on his tongue. “Sounds troublesome.”
Falcon didn’t answer right away. He leaned back slightly, studying his younger brother for a moment, as though weighing something unspoken. “I thought you didn’t care,” he said lightly.
“I don’t,” Brandon replied quickly. But this time, his tone lacked its earlier ease. He picked up his glass again, though he didn’t drink. He simply turned it slowly in his hand. “I just don’t like it when your ‘minor matters’ start dragging in people who
shouldn’t be involved.”
Falcon lifted a brow. “Since when do you care about other people?”
Brandon smiled faintly, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “Since I learned what it feels like to be part of someone else’s game.”
Silence settled over the room again. Even Juan didn’t interrupt.
Falcon looked at Brandon longer this time. The hint of a smile faded, replaced by something, flatter, more honest. “Then you should understand,” he said quietly. “Not everyone has a choice.”
Brandon’s jaw tightened. His gaze dropped briefly to the untouched dishes on the table before returning to Falcon. “There’s always a choice,” he said. “It’s just that… some people are too much of a coward to take it.”
No one responded right away.
Falcon let out a quiet chuckle, but this time, there was no trace of amusement in it. He shook his head slightly, as if he had expected that answer all along.
“You haven’t changed,” he said. “Still naïve.”
He picked up his phone again, turning the screen on for a brief moment before angling it toward Brandon. Not too close, but

Blurry, as if taken from a distance. A girl stood beneath the glow of a streetlight. Her face wasn’t entirely clear, but it was obvious she was cornered. Several men surrounded her.
Brandon narrowed his eyes. “Her?” he asked shortly.
“Gateway,” Falcon replied calmly.
Something shifted in Brandon’s expression. It was subtle, almost imperceptible, but enough to strip away that last trace of ease. “And you think she’ll lead you to whatever it is you’re looking for?” His voice was lower now.
Falcon turned off his screen. “She’s not the one leading me,” he said. “It’s what’s attached to her.”
Brandon didn’t respond.
