Behind her, Nathaniel had stepped closer, standing with a quiet authority that didn’t need to be announced. He gave Lydia a small nod.
“You made him take a stand, Lydia,” he said simply. And somehow, that was more than enough.
Chris appeared at the side, slipping his hands into his pockets, his expression lazily amused. “Still feels strange seeing him actually get married.”
“Chris,” Riana warned, though there was no real bite in her voice.
“I’m just being honest,” he replied easily, then glanced at Lydia. “But… I’m happy. Even if it means I’ll have to get used to him not being around the house anymore.”
“As if Cale was ever home that often,” Riana scoffed lightly. “He’s the one who’s always out. And the excuse is always the same—work.”
Her remark drew laughter from those gathered around Cale and Lydia. Cale didn’t bother denying it. It was the truth, after all.
Even so, Chris went on, “Still… even if what Mom said is true, I’ll admit—I’m going to miss it a little.” He reached out and gave his brother’s shoulder a firm, proud pat. “Take good care of Dad’s Hong Kong branch, Cale. I’ll be waiting for my share of the dividends.”
“Idiot.”
Riana let out a small sigh before turning back to Lydia, stepping a little closer this time, her voice lowering just slightly.
“You two should come back to SunCity often,” she said. “Don’t just settle in Hong Kong like you’re planning to.”
The words came out so naturally, as if they weren’t meant to be a secret at all. A few people exchanged puzzled glances.
“Hong Kong?” Felicia repeated it quickly.
Kalina turned as well. “You’re moving?”
Chris gave a small shrug. “He didn’t tell you?”
Cale let out a quiet sigh, clearly uninterested in explaining anything right now.
Nathaniel glanced at him briefly. “Cale will be handling the TnC branch in Hong Kong. And since this was your decision,” he said calmly, “make sure you understand the risks, Cale.”
