Chapter 201 Genius
Kendrick had stood up to walk today. He couldn't keep his balance, so he repeatedly fell. But he had refused when Brock had offered to help.
He often encountered such things during the recovery, like a child learning to walk. If he was afraid of pain and getting injured, he would not make any progress.
More than a month had passed. His body had absorbed the collagen brace, so there would be no more dislocation.
Kendrick slowly sat in the huge Jacuzzi. When the warm water massaged his body, the pain slightly eased.
The recovery process was long and painful. He would not have held on if he were alone.
--
When Kendrick came out of the bathroom, Natalie had prepared the hot pack. She stood up, carefully helped him onto the bed, rolled up his trousers, and put the hot pack on his knees. Then, she took the opportunity to tell him she was going to Ramsey Biomedicine's marketing department.
Kendrick frowned, thinking she was jumping into a pit after climbing out of one. Was it because her life was too dull that she wanted more challenges?
Ramsey Biomedicine was Ramsey Group's largest loss-making subsidiary. Seth had asked him to take it over and clean up the mess last year. He was smart, so he had decisively refused.
No one was willing to take it over, so Seth still managed it in person. But he was getting old and losing his grip.
Seeing Kendrick frown, Natalie added, "Susan has agreed."
Kendrick pressed his eyebrows with one hand and warned, "Biopharmaceuticals are much more complex than cosmetics and skin care products. You will face greater challenges and may not make a profit until five years later. Have you thought about it carefully?"
She nodded, "Yes."
She crawled into his arms, raised her head, and asked, "Don't you have confidence in me?"
She accidentally touched his injury when she naughtily tickled him to make him laugh. Hearing him gasp in pain, she realized something was wrong and asked, "What's wrong?"
Regardless of his objection, she lifted his pajamas. As expected, she saw a large bruise on his lower back. And it felt hard when she lightly touched it.
There was more than one bruise on his body, so she knew he must have fallen. No wonder he had refused her offer to help him bathe.
"I fell during rehabilitation training today. I didn't feel pain then. I did not expect things to become like this."
Natalie worriedly asked, "Only these bruises? Are there any other injuries?"
"No. Cayden has checked on me."
"I'll fetch the medicine."
After bringing the medicine over, she fetched a basin of hot water and then put a hot towel on his lower back.
Kendrick did not allow her to accompany him during the training because he didn't want her to see him helpless or clumsy. It would hurt his pride.
Natalie understood his psychological burden, so she gave him more time to stabilize his mental status.
After taking away the towel, she carefully applied the ointment. His body tensed up when her fingers touched him. So, she knew it must hurt badly.
The temperature would drop tonight. And it would be cloudy and rainy tomorrow. So he would feel sore in his knees.
Usually, he silently endured it. But today was different. After Natalie had massaged him for an hour, the pain in his legs gradually eased. She was so tired that she could hardly lift her hands. And her forehead was beaded with sweat.
She instructed him, saying, "If your legs hurt on rainy days, press this acupoint. Here! Understand?"
"No."
She pressed the acupoint again and said, "Here."
But he still looked confused.
"I've taught you several times. Why can't you understand?"
Owen was stunned to hear this.
She raised her voice and snapped, "What do you plan to do? It is worldwide banned!"
He did not refute her words but reluctantly said, "I know. But I need it to save a patient."
"It's not a life-saving drug!"
It had no effect of bringing the dead back to life.
Owen knew he couldn't hide it from her, so he told her the truth.
His trip to Hamgrad this year was not just for the academic seminar. He would also treat a permanently disabled patient.
After the surgery, the patient's legs regained all sensation and movement ability. He was undergoing rehabilitation training. And GM-1 would play a vital role in his full recovery.
Brynn frowned because it sounded like a fantasy.
But she knew her son never made up stories.
She asked, "Did you perform the surgery on him? What is the surgical plan?"
Owen replied, "No, it's not me. His surgeon is better than me in professionalism and knowledge."
After a pause, he added, "You may not believe it. But she is a woman in her early twenties."
Brynn's frown became more profound.
Owen had been studying for a PhD in his early twenties. So, she did not believe a young woman could complete such a complicated operation.
Owen smiled, "By the way, she has the same last name as you. Her name is Natalie Quinn."
