Hearing Hannah's words, he instinctively wanted to argue but found himself at a loss for a rebuttal.

It was just as Hannah said. When they met, they talked in circles, saying the same things. It was nothing more than 'forgive me' and 'I promise it won't happen again,' and nothing else.

So saying anything was pointless and useless. Besides, if they met and the conversation went sour, they would just end up fighting again.

"If you really want to see me that badly, why don't you go investigate what Quennel has been up to lately? Then come back and tell me, you hear?"

Hannah lowered her voice, reminding him quietly, "Until you find something out, don't say anything to me. There's no need for us to waste time like this, understand? If you don't answer, I'll take that as a yes."

Hannah hung up immediately after saying her piece.

Before Lionel could even react, he heard the dial tone. He was left in a daze, unsure of what Hannah really meant.

Why did she want him to investigate Quennel? Hannah trusted Quennel so much, why would she ask him to investigate him at a time like this?

Could it be that Quennel had done something now that their court date was approaching, trying to sabotage things?

But once he and Hannah went to court, the obvious outcome was divorce.

While it was normal for them to meet, the fact that Hannah called him and told him to investigate Quennel right after their meeting was significant.

It could only mean that something was said during their private meeting that made Hannah very upset.

"Besides the two of them meeting, there was another person present," the investigator reported over the phone.

Lionel instantly grew excited. "Find out who that person is immediately, and bring him to me."
