Upon hearing his words, the three elders exchanged glances. They were slowly starting to believe Lionel.
His demeanor today was completely different from yesterday. If he had really done it, he wouldn’t be acting like this now.
The elders’ gazes shifted to Quennel and Mrs. Mary Rosenberg.
Looking at them, they couldn't connect them to the incident. It had nothing to do with them, so why would they go to such trouble?
They also knew that exposing this matter would bring them nothing but harm.
If the goal was to get Lionel trending online and ruin his reputation, it was a pointless risk.
His reputation was already in tatters; it wasn’t worth going to such lengths.
“Some things can’t be understood with conventional thinking. If this plan succeeds, I’m the victim, and I’m the one taking the blame. So if I’m framed for leaking the meeting’s contents, I’ll be disowned for sure. And if I leave the Rosenberg family, who stands to gain the most?”
Seeing the elders’ confusion, Lionel offered a meaningful reminder.
With that, he stood up and asked a nearby servant to prepare a room for him.
“Until this matter is investigated, I will stay here at the estate. You can have people watch me around the clock, but while you’re watching me, please have them watch those two as well.”
Lionel looked at his mother and brother. “All three of us are suspects right now. It’s not impossible that one of us might try to frame another. So, for the sake of fairness, let’s not have only me under surveillance.”
Quennel’s tone and attitude were as calm as ever, which only deepened Lionel's suspicion.
Before going upstairs, Lionel couldn't help but look back at him a couple of times. A wave of unease washed over him.
Could it be that Quennel had already prepared new evidence to frame him?
That would explain why he was so unruffled. If that were the case, it only proved that the man was a master strategist, and Lionel was no match for him.
At the same time, it meant his own situation was about to become increasingly precarious.
Damn it. This Quennel hadn't seemed so terrifying before. How had he become so formidable?
