My Deceased Wife Wants a Divorce (Hannah) novel Chapter 675

Mr. David Woods, who had been silent the entire time, listened to their exchange with a darkening expression. He lowered his head in grim contemplation for a long moment before finally looking up at Sandra.

“A fifty-fifty split is fair. Forget all this sixty-forty nonsense. If we hadn't shown up, do you think you'd even be out of there right now?”

“The police just said they received an anonymous tip. That tip definitely didn't come from you.”

Sandra had been holding out a sliver of hope for what her father might say, but in the end, it was all about the money.

She sighed internally. “If you were the ones who called the police, you would have done it ages ago instead of dragging this out. Go on, try telling me you were the one who made the call. I’ll go straight to Lionel and see how he ‘takes care’ of you then.”

“You’ve got them thinking I only got out of that basement thanks to you. But all you are is a distant blood relative who can cash in on my suffering. Have you even looked at my injuries?”

Sandra held up her bruised and battered arms for them to see.

“Do you think you’d be getting such a large settlement without these scars? I went through hell in there, and now you want to split it fifty-fifty? Fine. You insist on that, and I’ll tell Lionel I don’t want a dime of compensation. All I want is an apology. I’m making one final offer: sixty-forty. Sixty for me, forty for you.”

At her words, Mr. David Woods slammed his hand on the table, pointing a finger at her nose as he bellowed, “Have you got dollar signs in your eyes? Is that all you can think about at a time like this?”

Mrs. Edith Woods saw the look on her daughter's face and knew Sandra was serious.

If they pushed her any further, Sandra might actually refuse the money entirely, and that would be a massive loss.

After a quick calculation, she jumped up and grabbed her husband's wrist. “Fine, sixty-forty it is! You get sixty, we get forty. Happy now?”
