It was as if Hannah had predicted he would come.

When he arrived at the Temple estate, she wasn’t there. A servant met him at the door.

“Mr. Rosenberg, Ms. Temple left a message for me to relay to you.” The servant looked down at her phone and read from the text: “Since your lover caused this problem, you will be the one to take full responsibility. You must find Sandra, bring her back, and send her to prison so she can pay for what she has done.”

Lionel’s brow furrowed as he listened, his expression grim. After a moment, he asked, “Is that all she said? Did she not…”

“That is the entirety of Ms. Temple’s message. There is no need for further questions, Mr. Rosenberg.”

The servant cut him off, her face impassive, and turned to leave without another word.

Ms. Temple had instructed her not to engage in any lengthy conversation with him, lest he linger.

She truly is remarkable, the servant thought. She even predicted this.

“Wait!”

Lionel called out just as the servant had taken a few steps.

“Are you sure there wasn't anything else?” he asked, a hint of desperation in his voice.

The servant simply shook her head without pausing her stride.

Lionel stood there, his frown deepening. The gardeners in the yard acted as if he didn't exist, continuing with their work without giving him any special treatment despite his status.

He walked back to his car, feeling utterly dejected. He took a deep breath, but each one felt like it was tearing at his heart, causing a pain that was almost unbearable.

Was it all because Hannah had her things taken away, so she held a grudge?
