His closeness did something to Aniya’s heartbeat, sending her heart into a frenzy. Slowly she turned around in his arms and lo and behold.
There he was!
A tall, suited man stared back at her, his piercing gaze locking with hers.
And...
And he was gorgeous.
Who was he?
"Oh, God! What is Mr. George Donovan doing here?" Aniya heard a voice close by.
"He hardly acknowledges his employee’s presence and here he is holding the girl like... he cares."
George Donovan?
Aniya felt her ears perking up at the mention of the CEO’s name.
"Ms. Paige Fletcher?" he asked the taller woman silkily who had a big coffee stain on her blouse while his arms were still around Aniya.
A chill ran down Aniya’s spine when she saw the small crowd.
"Sir," Paige cleared her throat, "She was carrying hot coffee, and it burned me. She moved so clumsily..." Paige trailed off when she noticed her boss looking at her as if he might swallow her whole.
"Yet, you got glued to her ass, not allowing her enough space to move around with her coffee. Great," his voice was laced with sarcasm. His sharp gaze pinned Paige in place, making her shift uncomfortably.
Paige opened her mouth to speak something, but the words didn’t make it out. Like the spectators observing the whole scene, she was also questioning this.
Was the boss openly favoring this uniformed girl? Shouldn’t he be favoring her instead?
"You alright?" The CEO asked Aniya so softly that Aniya felt like he was scared to hurt her. Or was she imagining it?
"Umm. Yes..." She took one or two steps away to put some distance between them. At first, she thought he didn’t want to let her go but then he seemed to force himself to do it.
"Mistake was mine," Aniya gathered enough courage to look into his eyes, "I should have been careful," she didn’t want to make enemies on the first day of her job.
Making friends was a priority on the first day but being noticed by the CEO wasn’t. Aniya raised her eyes and found him staring at her chest.
What the...
She tried to cover herself and looked down to find coffee stains on her blouse too.
"The coffee burned you too," he remarked, holding her again, "Ms. Paige. Visit the Star Corps doctor on the second floor and take her too. I think it was an honest mistake from her side."
Aniya was still feeling dizzy. She was cursing herself internally for buying another cup of coffee.
Thought she wasn’t looking in his direction but could still feel his piercing gaze on her.
There was something painfully familiar about this man. As if... as if they knew each other for a very long time. frёewebnoѵēl.com
The doctor didn’t speak again but Aniya had seen that disgusted look on her face, "You’re good to go. Here is the ointment. Just apply it after every wash, twice or thrice a day."
When Paige walked out of the clinic, she had a smirk playing on her lips, "I’m sorry for this," the doctor apologized to Aniya with a helpless chuckle, "Here is the same ointment. You better don’t wear any tight clothing once you reach home. A loose shirt will do or just wrap a blanket around you if you feel weird."
Aniya nodded. Dr. Diana was writing a painkiller on her medical pad when the door opened after a brief knock and a nurse came inside, followed by ...
Uh-huh. George Donovan.
Here he is, again!
"Hey, George," Dr. Diana got up to shake hands with him. Their relationship didn’t seem formal.
"How is she," his dark eyes scanned Aniya’s body, and this time she knew she wasn’t imagining it. He did come after her.
Dr. Diana was telling him the same thing that Ms. Anaya needed to rest but Aniya shook her head. She didn’t want to take any offs right after the first day of her job.
"And she looks stubborn too," Diana rolled her eyes and started playing with her pen. George walked up to Aniya and placed his finger under her chin to lift her face, "Are you alright?" he asked her gently. Aniya was getting too conscious due to Diana and the nurse’s presence.
He was looking at her with that charming smile and Aniya’s gaze got stuck in the dimple of his right cheek.
"Are you this caring for all of your staff or is it just me?" Aniya was horrified the moment she realized that she had blurted out those words.
For a minute, there was stunned silence in the clinic.
Aniya watched as he bent forward, his face drawing dangerously close to hers, "It’s just you, little dove."
