Chapter 277: 277- Meeting Her Grandkids

Marissa’s heart dropped at the sight. Panic surged through her as she rushed forward to scoop her daughter up into her arms.

"What are you doing here, sweetie?" Marissa asked her worriedly.

The little girl didn’t even squirm or throw a tantrum. She kept staring at Nina, who still had her eyes closed but now wore a gentle smile. Tears were running down her cheeks.

Marissa carried Abi inside, where Sophie was ready to take her from her arms.

"What got into you, little one?" Sophie asked her softly.

"She never liked talking to strangers," Marissa murmured, her voice faltering, "Why did she do that? She never liked stranger people touching her."

Sophie cradled Abigail, gently stroking her hair, "Kids feel things we don’t understand," she said quietly, looking outside the door, "By the way who is that boy? He is cute!"

Marissa spun around in stunned silence, remembering about the kid who accompanied her, "Georgie. Come inside, honey."

Marissa was sitting quietly by the kitchen counter. Instead of eating her breakfast, she was just playing around with her cereal.

On the other hand, Sophia was pacing the floor in frustration.

"You went to the police station? Why?" she stopped mid-stride, her eyes wide with disbelief, "We could have sent Joseph or Dean..."

Marissa shrugged, there was calmness on her face, "I wanted to go, Sophie. I had to," she pushed the bowl away and dropped her head into her hands, "I need to find him, Soph. You can’t expect me to glue my bottom when he is out there somewhere in trouble."

Sophia wanted to scream. They were back to square one.

"Oh goodness!" Sophia dragged the stool beside her and flopped onto it, "Mar. I’m not against you looking for him. But please stay with the kids too. Without you, they’ll be lost."

Marissa started chewing her quivering lips, "And without him, I’m lost."

"Oh, Mar!"

"They haven’t found him yet. It seems as if, like me, they are also waiting for some miracle. And you know what the police chief said?"

When Sophia didn’t say anything, Marissa chuckled, "They think Delinda is behind all this. Such a crap!"

Sophie turned her head to look over her shoulder, "Careful. Her son is nearby."

Georgie was playing in the backyard with the triplets.

Marissa nodded, "I know. His mom might be crazy but what she has to do with Rafael?"

Sophie groaned when the familiar pounding started on the glass wall, "Marissa. I’m sorry! Please let me in."

"Can someone please kill her?" Sophie gritted her teeth, "How you spent those two years with her. She is crazy, man!"

"Mommy!" Alex was standing in the doorway, "The woman who is living outside our home. Why don’t we call her in? She seems too kind-hearted to be left alone out there. Where do you think, she must be peeing and pooping? Giving her food isn’t enough, I think."

Marissa gave Sophia an ’I told you so’ look.

"Sure, sweetheart. You go back and play. We’ll talk about it," With a nod, Alex went back to join his siblings.

With a frustrated sigh, Sophie stepped ahead to go to her room, when Marissa hurriedly went behind her and hugged her from behind, "Please don’t leave me, Soph."

Sophie went rigid under her touch, "I’ve no one except you. Please don’t leave me like this. Try to understand, Soph. Kids might come to know tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, who Nina is. Now I’m stronger. I can keep them safe. I’ve got you beside me. Please don’t leave me."

Sophie raised her head and looked at the ceiling before closing her eyes. She slowly turned and hugged Marissa who was now crying softly.

She couldn’t do it openly due to the presence of her kids.

"Marissa. What happened?" the pounding had again started, "Tell me, Marissa. See? You are the mom of my grandkids. I won’t disappoint you."

"Yeah!" a low groan escaped Sophie, "we don’t know where you are peeing and pooping!"

Marissa who was busy sobbing, finally cracked up, her shoulders shaking in mirth now.

"Sophie!" a punch landed on Sophie’s shoulder.

"Nina! Come inside and please go to the bathroom," While rolling her eyes, Sophie announced on behalf of her friend, "Take a shower. Wear something decent. The grandma should be presentable before meeting her grandkids."
