Adrian Pov
I hang up the phone and go down the stairs, saying, "I'm going there."
My Mom's voice causes me to pause at my house, "Adrian."
When I glanced around, my sister Skylar and my father were with her.
Mom soon approaches and quickly wraps her arms around me; I felt moisture on my shoulder.
Why is mom crying, though? I pulled away from her and brushed away her tears as I looked at Skylar and noticed that Dad was also looking very dejected. His eyes were swollen, too.
Mom shook her head and put her hand over her forehead, saying, "Skylar told me everything about what happened with Em, that poor girl went through worse." Dad rushed over and gave her a big embrace while gently massaging her back.
I nodded in approval as Dad remarked, "Son, I can't even fathom that something this dreadful could happen to a good-hearted girl like Emberly."
Even though I'm still in disbelief, I realise that she's really able to control this much suffering, dad. Skylar asks me, "So, what are you going to do now?"
I informed them, "I'm going to meet her brother; he must have known everything about her."
Dad nodded at me as Mom turned to face me, her eyes flashing.
Mom told me, "Yes, Adrian, you should go there. It's so critical for us to understand the suffering she endured so that we may provide her the happiness she so richly deserves. I just want to embrace her so desperately."
I examined my family and thought how fortunate I am to have them in my life—not only now, but ever since I was a kid. I now respect and appreciate my parents and my adorable little sister much more than before because of how supportive and upbeat they are.
Mom nodded at me as dad continued, "Come, I have something to discuss to you about you and Emberly, you should first go meet her brother, then when you will come back, we will discuss."
***********
My knuckles grew white as I drove the car along the highway.
I'm curious to learn everything there is to know about Emberly, including everything she underwent, her experiences, her emotions, and her former anxieties.
Asher, her brother, was waiting for me when I arrived at the club. My PA had just told me that he had been trying to contact me for months, but I had been consistently denying his requests to meet because I hated him for being a part of the marriage hoax that had betrayed me.
When she betrayed me, all I wanted to do was punish Emberly and ruin her life, but now that I've changed, I no longer have the same animosity for her and her brother since none of them did anything wrong—especially Emberly, who was just unintentionally drawn into that disaster.
He was seated at one of the bar counters and tapping his leg when I turned to face him.
I move in his direction.
He was savouring his beer.
"After I rushed Emberly to the hospital, I remember, She didn't speak to anyone for two weeks, and I notice, I was so scared for her that she lost her sound, but then the one thing you should know about my Sister Emberly is that, she is the strongest girl I ever met, and she was able to move on from that trauma," he drank his entire wine, just in one gulp, as it will take away all the elation.
He clenched the glass so tightly as he said, "Then, one day when I was out for my college project, the man who was, sadly, my father, almost raped her. That day, I've decided that I would do all I can, to pull my sister out of that hell, the dad."
"That incident still gives me the chills and makes my blood boil. My dad was drinking his alcohol and he pushed Emberly over the broken pieces of alcohol bottle when she was only ten years old." This time, fresh fat tears are coming from his eyes. "He always used to touch her wrongly, since she was younger, but I've always used to save her. I even missed my classes just to keep an eye on her, that if she was okay. She was just 10 years old at the time, and she had gotten a lot worse, so even though I shifted and tapped my leg in an attempt to find some solace, nothing helped."
"When I woke up in the morning, I found Emberly laying on the floor over broken pieces of sharp glass. Poor thing, she fell asleep in the floor after crying all night, and when I approached her, she was whimpering in pain as sharp pieces of glass pierced in her skin. That time, we were younger, so I can't be held responsible. I treated her wounds with first aid kit in our house, she cried for almost six days But that bitch, who was unfortunate to be my mom, she has no mercy on her. Even after having the washing machine in the house, she makes Emberly wash the clothes with bare hands. Her hands used to boil on continuous contact with water. And that, Deliah, she intentionally keeps the sharp blade on her school bag, and it makes Emberly's hands cut with a deep wound." I threw away the set of glasses kept on the counter."
I fisted my hands, drawing stares from everyone in the club.
However, no one dares to speak to me since I am the owner of this party bar and the Campbell Empire, which also owns numerous pub chains throughout the world.
"But that day, when the scumbag attempted to rape the, I bumped the metal rod on her head and, with the aid of my friends, I helped her escape by getting her a ticket to New York."
I growled, "I won't leave that monster," and started to stand up when Asher's voice stopped me.
He sighed and walked up to me, saying, "Heal her first. She seems like she's happy, but deep down she's shattered and lonely. All she wants and craves is some love, care, and tenderness. But I also want you to know that the bastard returns to New York. He and my greedy family came to New York when he learned that I was married to Sarah Winston, the billionaire's daughter, but I refused to meet them because I didn't want their shadow to fall on Sarah and our unborn child. They left when they learned that the Winstons are now bankrupt thanks to you," He said while focusing on my eyes.
I scowled and retreated, saying, "So this means, Emebrly saw that bastard when she went shopping with Skylar."
Asher looked at me with wide eyes and exclaimed, "What, are they still in New York? I thought they would go after I refused them, wait for, don't tell me they found out about Emberly."
