Soon, Sadie rushed over to pick up Nina.

When the assistant led her in, she still looked completely dazed.

She just shivered and kept calling Nina, desperate to grab the kid and bolt.

The second Nina spotted her, her eyes lit up, and she threw both arms open.

Knowing Sadie would take her to Amelia, she was thrilled and couldn’t wait to be carried away.

But Benjamin held off on handing her over, saying, “Wait.”

He picked Nina up and carried her to the lounge.

She nearly fainted from excitement.

“N-no, no, it’s no trouble,” she blurted out.

Hands shaking, she took Nina, who was already chugging her bottle happily.

She was way too nervous to stay in front of Benjamin a second longer.

“S-so, um. I’ll just t-t-take Nina and go now,” she.stammered, hugged Nina tight, turned, and speed-walked

Only at the door did Nina blink, look back at Benjamin still standing there.

She popped the bottle out of her mouth and called him, “Daddy.”

Benjamin took one step forward.

The next second, Nina waved her chubby hand wildly and said, “Bye!”

Benjamin said nothing, just watched the tiny figure disappear,

Once Nina was gone, the whole office fell dead quiet.

Benjamin returned to his desk.

Without Nina’s chaos, he should have been way more efficient. Yet after sitting for a while, he still couldn’t focus.
