Amelia continued replying, “Otherwise, she’s going to cry any second. She gets really fussy when she wakes

up.”

Benjamin stared at the message in silence for a moment, then typed one word with one hand, “Okay.”

After that, he picked up the whimpering, restless Nina and went back to his desk.

He still had work to do.

Benjamin worked with one arm while holding a child with the other. The sight was so strange that all ten assistants witnessed it.

But no one said a word.

The first iron rule of being Benjamin’s assistant was simple: know how to shut up.

In other words, be a mute.

The office grew quiet again without the kids’ voices.

And in that quiet, Nina, who had fallen asleep, had a long-lost nightmare.

This time, the nightmare wasn’t about Daniel dying.

The one who died in her dream was someone she knew well-her grandpa.

He stood on the third floor, looking down at a huge birthday cake below.

He smiled at the cake and wanted to walk downstairs.

But suddenly, a pair of hands shoved him.

Those hands were so close.

. If Nina hadn’t been dreaming-seeing every detail clearly-she would never have noticed them.

William tumbled down the stairs from the third floor. His head hit the sharp corner, and the blood spreading across the red floor looked even more shocking.

And the person who pushed him wore an expression of panic. He rushed forward, shouting, “William! Don’t scare me! Wake up! Hurry, call emergency!”

The real culprit acted innocent after the crime,

Nina saw everything clearly, and she even recognized the man’s face.

It was Ryan Graham, the man in the old photos William once showed her-his younger brother who lived

abroad.

This time, William had gone overseas to visit him.

“Grandpa… Grandpa!” Nina suddenly burst into tears, terrified by the image of William dying in her dream.

She cried and flailed her chubby hands wildly,

This time, Benjamin didn’t need to take a photo and ask Amelia. Even he could tell Nina had a nightmare.

Benjamin put his work aside and leaned down to call her, “Nina? Nina, wake up.

He called her several times before Nina finally woke up.

Her plump face was wet and trembling, looking heartbreakingly pitiful.

“Daddy!” Nina sobbed.

The moment she saw Benjamin, it was like spotting her hero. She reached out her tiny arms to be held.

Benjamin already had her in his arms.

Seeing she still wanted to cling to him, he shifted her into a face-to-face hug, pulling her snugly against his chest.

Held like that. Nina’s cries softened a little.

Her round, soft cheek pressed against Benjamin’s shirt.

Her milky voice was already hoarse from crying. “Daddy… Nina scared…”

Benjamin held her, his large hand patting her back slowly. His deep voice was steady and calm. “Don’t be scared. I’m right here.”

Compared to the man who once had no idea how to comfort a child, Benjamin had unknowingly improved

a lot.

At the very least, the mouth that usually delivered cold, sharp words could say warm things to his chubby little daughter.

His comfort eased a bit of Nina’s fear, but she hadn’t forgotten her nightmare.

Her tiny head was still filled with the awful scene.

“Daddy, I want Grandpa… Grandpa!”

She cried for William, her tears soaking through Benjamin’s shirt.

His obsessive cleanliness had almost already been cured by this little girl.

Ignoring his ruined shirt, Benjamin pulled out his phone and made a video call to William.

The call connected quickly.

William sounded surprised. “Benjamin? Why are you calling me-wait, what’s wrong with Nina?!”
