Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 430

Chapter 430 Be Good

Nina could tell what Harry was thinking.

She wrestled with it for a second, but she really wanted to go fly balloons with the other kids.

“No go,” she said, her little voice serious as she cupped Lester’s handsome face with both chubby hands.

If an adult did this, it might seem flirty. But Nina, with her surprisingly strong grip and her little face still smudged with chocolate crumbs, looked anything but. It was funnier than anything.

She gave him her best stern look. “Nina busy,” she declared. “Play later.”

Nina had something “important” to do, and she was bossy enough to tell Lester not to run off, because she was coming back to play with him.

Lester felt less like his face was being held and more like it was being squeezed. The fact that it didn’t distort was a testament to how toned his face was from all his workouts.

“Alright, go play,” Lester said, giving in. By now, he knew just how much Nina loved to have fun.

He didn’t keep her by his side, letting her run off to her

games.

Nina left, looking back over her shoulder every few steps.

“Be good,” she called out, worried he might not stay put.

In all his years, this was the first time Lester had been told to “be good” by a baby.

The corner of his mouth twitched. He wasn’t sure what to say to that.

Soon, Nina was running after Harry to where they kept lots and lots of balloons.

It was Anthony’s engagement party, after all, so little decorations like flowers and balloons were everywhere.

Nina loved flowers, and she loved balloons.

Whenever she saw a balloon seller on the street, she’d plant her feet and refuse to move. Street vendors charged a lot for those character balloons-sometimes up to ten dollars!

Amelia, trying to save money, had once bought a whole batch of them. But once they were home, Nina didn’t want them anymore.

never knew what to do with her.

“Nelson, so many!” Nina cried, watching Harry grab some before she snatched up a few herself.

Some of the other kids found uninflated balloons and started blowing them up for fun. Seeing them, Nina wanted to try too.

She puffed out her cheeks and actually managed to inflate one! But maybe the balloon wasn’t great quality, because as she blew, it suddenly popped right in her face with a loud bang!

Nina froze, her little face stunned.

Nelson reacted instantly, pulling her close.

“Nina, are you hurt?” he asked, carefully picking the tiny bit of balloon from her mouth and checking her lips and face.

Luckily, she wasn’t hurt. But she was definitely scared.

Her little mouth trembled, tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at Nelson.

Nelson hugged her tight, patting her back just like Amelia and Benjamin always did.

“Don’t be scared. We won’t play with these anymore. Let’s go get something to eat, okay?” Nelson said, trying to distract her.

The other kids were also startled by the loud pop and lost interest in the balloons.

“Nina, let’s go eat,” Harry suggested.

Anthony’s engagement party was lavish, with an extensive spread. There was even a separate dining area for the children.

But Nina didn’t head straight to eat with Nelson. She went to find Lester first.

True to his word after her “be good” order, Lester was still sitting right where she’d left him.

Nina’s face lit up when she saw him, and she rushed over.

“Pwetty uncle!” she cried, throwing herself against his leg. Her happiness lasted about a second before she remembered her ordeal.

Touching her lips, her expression turned to one of complaint.

“Boom! Balloon pop! Nina scared,” she tattled, pointing to her mouth as evidence.

Nelson had tried to wipe her face with a tissue, but it wasn’t a thorough job. She was still a little:
