Felix walked over to her and positioned himself so he could catch her if she fell. “Nina, is the motorcycle fun?” he asked.

Nina said, “Yeah!”

Her chubby little hands gripped the handlebars, her whole body straining to steer.

Her little face was pink, either from the effort or the heat.

Felix asked, “Nina, do you remember Mia? She says she misses you and even prepared some gifts for you. Do you want to play with her?”

Nina didn’t recognize the name Mia at first. It wasn’t until Felix pulled out his phone and showed her a photo that she realized who he was talking about.

Seeing the photo, Nina’s chubby face immediately turned serious.

Felix kept coaxing her. “She says there was a misunderstanding before and she’s sorry now.

“She wants to be friends with you from now on, and shell buy you any snack you want.

“You like candy, right? Mia can buy you lots of it.”

Nina’s chubby hand suddenly shot out and grabbed Felix’s phone.

Felix froze, totally caught off guard.

The next second, Nina threw the phone down with a smack.

She said, “Bad lady.”

Nina held grudges for a long time. Even though she hadn’t seen Mia in a while, she still remembered her.

After throwing the phone, she tugged at Felix. “You go ‘way. No bad lady.”

Because she liked the little motorcycle, Nina didn’t think Felix was bad either.

She just wanted him to stay away from Mia.

Felix looked at his phone on the ground, his expression darkening. He picked it up first, then said sharply, “Nina, how could you throw my phone?”

He tried to turn on the screen.

The screen was cracked, but thankfully, it still worked.

Felix gritted his teeth in frustration. He didn’t care abou Nina’s little act of kindness; he just thought she was exactly the spoiled little brat Mia had described.

But for Mia’s benefit—since he needed to get her back to the Wilson family-Felix had to put up with this kid for now.

Softening his tone a little, he said, “Nina, Mia isn’t a bad person. She’s part of your family.”

At this point, Felix couldn’t get through to her no matter what.

While they talked, Felix had made sure no one else was round, so no one else heard their talk.

After a while, Felix ran out of patience.

Holding the cracked phone, he walked away looking annoyed and plunked himself down.

Even though the screen was cracked, it could still send texts.

Felix texted Mia back first, then exchanged a few texts with Brian.

They knew each other well.

Brian was asking what Chloe was doing.

After replying to that, Felix vented to him about how much trouble Nina was.

Felix texted, “This kid is a real handful. Chloe spoils her rotten. You have no idea-at lunch, Chloe feeds her one bite at a time.

“When she cries, Chloe doesn’t even get mad-she just keeps coddling her. Frankly, the kid might as well be Chloe’s own.”

He kept venting for a bit.

Then Brian replied, “If you want Mia back to the Wilson family, Nina’s the key here. What’s your plan? Have you figured it out yet?”

Meanwhile, as the two men texted back and forth, Nina sat alone on her motorcycle watching Felix walk away, and she frowned.

“Why he sad?”

Seeing Felix so unhappy, Nina tapped on her smartwatch and called Daniel, “Un-coo Dan’el, buy phone!”
