Nina tilted her head, touched her eyes, and declared with utmost seriousness, “They hit. Hit Nina eye.”

She still remembered how her eyes had been hurt.

Benjamin and Nina bickered nonstop the entire way. Back home, Amelia-having finally rested after days of rushing around-was finally feeling like her old self again.

She stepped out of her room and didn’t see Nina anywhere.

William smiled and said, “Nina went with Benjamin to deliver the invitations. She saw him getting into the car and begged to tag along. She even threw a fit at the gate and cried buckets.”

Amelia could picture the scene perfectly and laughed helplessly, “Nina’s getting clingier by the day.”

Before, when Amelia had to work, Nina was clingy but never this bad.

Now the little one was spoiled like a tiny princess-utterly pampered.

William didn’t mind the clinginess at all.

He chuckled, “It’s normal for little kids to be clingy. It just means she loves you and doesn’t want you to go!”

Amelia didn’t quite agree but said nothing.

She knew Nina too well-this wasn’t separation anxiety. She was just dying to get out-she’d been cooped up for days and was going stir-crazy from being stuck inside.

They chatted a bit longer. Just as Amelia turned to leave, William called her back, “Oh, right, Amelia-do you still want to watch those old videos of Benjamin?”

The

past

few days had been hectic. William had tried to show them to her before, but Benjamin kept stopping him from doing it.

Now that Benjamin was out, William seized the chance.

Amelia’s eyes lit up instantly. “Yes, yes, yes!”

She had been dying to see them.

William beamed. “I’ll go grab them for you.”

Soon, the recordings were in Amelia’s hands.

“Watch them yourself,” William said.

He had seen them countless times already.

Little Benjamin had always had such a serious little face, but William still found him adorable.

After handing them over, William left her in peace.

Amelia curled up on the sofa and started the videos.

The first clip was of Benjamin as a newborn.

Amelia exclaimed, “Wow! He looks just like Nina!”

Seeing baby Benjamin right after he was born instantly reminded her of Nina.

Neither of them had been all wrinkly like most babies when they were born.

“Though Nina was definitely cuter,” Amelia muttered, with that typical mom bias.

The videos continued. Benjamin grew little by little.

Amelia watched dozens of recorded moments.

In one clip, a newly walking little Benjamin was taken to a manor where chickens were kept.

A chicken pecked him from behind, and he fell face-first into the dirt.

Little Benjamin didn’t cry. He got up, turned around, and chased that chicken.

He chased it for

ages.

The adults found it hilarious at first, but when he wouldn’t stop, they worried he’d wear himself out. Laughing, they finally caught the chicken for him.

They teased that they’d slaughter it and stew it for him.

He kept that stern little look on his face, still furious. He pointed angrily at the other chickens and snapped, “Eat!”

He wanted every single chicken caten!

Amelia laughed until her sides hurt at vengeful little Benjamin.

No wonder Nina holds grudges-it comes from here.
