Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 153

Chapter 153 Nina’s Sudden Ache

Benjamin said, “Amelia, don’t worry. We have doctors of call at home.

“I’ll be staying home these next two days, too.

“We’ll watch her together and keep an eye on her eyes the whole time.

“Nothing’s going to happen to them.”

Benjamin’s voice was calm. That big, slightly calloused and wrapped around hers felt strong and safe.

Under his steady reassurance, Amelia’s racing heart finally slowed.

For the next two days, Benjamin didn’t set foot in the office.

He handled some work from home and handed the rest to his assistant.

Benjamin stayed glued to the house, and William didn’t go anywhere either.

Even Daniel, once he heard the news, behaved himself and spent both days at home playing with Nina.

Surrounded and spoiled by a whole crowd of adults, Nina acted like a little princess.

She threw tantrums left and right, and nobody dared stop her. Even Amelia went easy on her because of those poor little eyes.

Two days later, the redness was completely gone.

Three days later, a follow-up check showed no remaining sand.

Nina’s eyes were officially fine. Amelia finally let out the breath she’d been holding.

“Mommy, go play!”

Just back from the doctor, Nina still thought she could get away with anything.

She shook Amelia’s arm, demanding to be carried out.

Amelia smiled, “Okay! Alice has been worried about you too. Let’s go see her and play.”

The name Alice made Nina nod like a happy little bobblehead.

“Mommy go!”

Nina egged Amelia on, dying to get out after being cooped up for days.

Amelia grabbed her bag, scooped Nina up, and headed meet Alice.

Benjamin, after three full days at home, finally went to the office.

Daniel heard they were going to Alice’s and secretly tailed them.

With everyone gone, only William and the long-ignore Frank remained.

Frank said, “Grandpa William, I’ve been stuck inside forever and never get to go out.

“Can you take me with you, please? I wanna go hiking.”

Frank looked up at him with pleading puppy eyes.

William had been looking into Ryan these past few days but hadn’t found anything solid yet.

But the Norrod family was helping.

They had serious pull in Marisavia, and the family head, David Norrod, promised results within the next day or two.

No matter what Ryan might be hiding, William still had a soft spot for Frank-the kid he’d watched grow

He reached out and ruffled Frank’s hair. “Sure, let’s go together.”

Frank’s little hands shook with excitement the moment he said yes!

While Frank happily dragged William off to the mountains, Nina-who had been thrilled to see Alice at first -suddenly turned fussy.

“Mommy… go home.”

Amelia frowned in confusion. “Alice is almost here. We have to wait for her.”

“No.” Nina patted her own chest, face dead serious. “Mommy… I feel bad.”

The second she said she felt bad, Amelia’s hand flew to her forehead.

Years of being a mom had taught her to tell if Nina had fever just by touching her.

She checked the forehead, the neck, then the little feet-carefully.

“Nina, you don’t have a fever. Where does it hurt?” she asked.

Nina kept patting her chest.

Amelia moved the tiny hand aside and felt for herself.

Nina’s heart was racing.

Amelia had no idea what was happening.

Before she could ask again, Nina insisted, “Mommy… go home. Want Grandpa.”

She wasn’t sleepy or having a dream-she just suddenly felt awful and couldn’t explain why.

“Mommy… Want Grandpa.”

She reached for the car door, trying to open it herself.

Amelia quickly pulled her back.
